Lost toe nails

i have one of my girls that has lost the front toe nails on just one of her feet. everything else about her foot looks fine. is there something wrong with her or has she just ripped her nails out?

My little roo is missing one of his toe nails as well. It happened sometime when he was little. I treated his toe with antibiotic ointment and wrapped it in vet wrap to keep it clean until it healed. It never grew back, but all of his other toes are fine.

They can rip them out and often times they will bleed a lot, so you can dab it with iodine or antibiotic oinment to stop bleeding and stop an infection. They will be fine without a nail, if they are getting long and not getting "trimmed" by them scratching you can clip them.

i never noticed it until this weekend. they weren't bleeding or anything and were totally healed up. she also has a cross beak and i didn't know if her having a hard time eating might contribute to her nails being gone. she's 1 year old but just started laying about a week ago. i figured she was just a messed up chicken with the cross beak and was getting ready to cull her since she wasn't laying. then last week there was a pretty blue egg in there where all i've ever had was brown. so i went to check her out and sure enough she was squatting for me when she had never done that before. that's when i noticed the missing nails. if it was just ONE missing nail i wouldn't think too much about it, but all 3?

That's strange. Not to sure about the toes. I wanted to reply about the cross beak though. My roo had that going on when he was younger, I used nail clippers and trimmed his beak. I genty filed his beak and got it to sit correctly in place. Their beaks are trimmable like their nails, you just have to do it carefully.

without. His crosses on the right side so when I filed it, I kept the right side a little higher forcing his beak to become a little more aligned. I keep up with beak trims and toe nail trims and it seems to help the problems.
