Gazinga said in the soap swap that he was sending lotion....

Does anyone make their own lotion base?? Where would you order lotion base from?? I only want "Ah La Nat-Tr-Nal" base....

I got into soap making to get away from all the chemicals and really want to see if I can branch out....

Also, Gazinga do you sell your oils you make???

You can get unscented lotion base at Hobby Lobby (is there anything you can't get at Hobby Lobby?)

Or, if you have a food processor, you can make your own. I got an old food processor at a yard sale (cheap, cause it'll be all done for anything besides cosmetics once ya put those scented oils into it).

I haven't done lotions in a long time, but it is basically an oil and a wax mixed in proper proportions, and then you can add stuff to it (glycerin, scent, etc..)

Thing to remember is to mix it well, and get the wax incorportated (I used beeswax) before it cools too much, or you'll have beads of wax in the lotion. I prefer the home made lotion, because I don't have to have stuff such as Lanolin, mineral oil or Alcohol in it.

You can mix up your wax by using other hard "fats" such as Cocoa Butter, etc... That way you use less wax.

Look on the net, and you'll find a lot of recipes for lotions - if you can find a ratio of fat/oil/wax basic recipe, you can go from there.
I've lost most of my recipes. Well, not lost, they're here somewhere....

Thanks Meri.

In looking at the ingredients list of on-line bases, it seems to be A LOT of chemicals in them....

I have sensitive skin and wanted to make something w/o Chamomile or chemicals... preservitives I can understand and adding Vit E or A I understand their chemical makeup but some of the other stuff seemed unnecessary.....

I'll do the web search and see what I can find.....
