Lots of dead ducklings! What do I do?

She is drinking a lot. Should I still use electrolyte water? What is it and where do I get it? Also how to I get her to eat? She isn't paying any attention to her food. She just want to jump out the brooder and be with us. My dogs are keeping her company. Thats has gotten her to calm down a bit.

I have to tell you about the car ride home with my first duck. It didn't like being in a box either. I stopped at Walmart and my the duckling got loose in Walmart Parking lot!!! It ran under the parked car beside us and I was pleading with it in my most endearing voice to please come to me before it got ran over. Luckily it did and it has been bonded with me ever since.

It might not eat until tomorrow. Depends on how much yolk it is still living on. Watch closely to make sure it eats and poops by tomorrow.

I LOVE the baby sitter you got for the duck! LOLOL

As for the jumping...there is a reason our Rouen is named BUNGIE!

I agree with bantygirl. I would call around to feed stores and see if you can get at least one duckling to put with your new baby. The other suggestions are great as well if you can't find another duckling.

I would guess that something happened to your ducklings during shipping, like they got too hot or were exposed to fumes or something. I am so sorry you have to deal with this. I hope your new baby does well!

I was just at the feed store and they had baby keets and baby chickens but no ducks. Otherwise I would pick up some even though they are shipping out my new order Monday.

She is eating drinking and has pooped. I'm thinking she might be very tough to be the only one to survive the trip. I spoke to Metzer this morning and they said another person had called in today with an entire load of dead chicks.

Next time I think I'll just get them early through the feed store. We were in the process of buying a house for the past few months so we had to wait until we closed to get the chicks. By that time all the feed stores were out of ducks.

I don't know the exact amounts, I just put some sugar in bowl, and add some water, then stir until the sugar disolves, maybe someone will come along and know exactly how much.

UPDATE!:

So I was at the feedstore and I picked up 2 white broilers. I figure they can keep the duck company until next week when the other ducks arrive. Then I'll set up a 2nd duck/chick brooder so the chicks won't be covered in the ducks wild splashes. They are all napping now leaning against each other. I'm feeding the duck flock raiser and they said that's perfect for the white broilers as well. Now I'll just have to be especially diligent to keep the brooder dry so as not to upset the broilers. I can't believe the size difference between the duck and chicks. The ducks are like 3x the size and they are both 3 days old.
