Today we got 7 eggs! 5 from my 17 month Olds and 2 from my 6 month Olds. I was surprised that my older girls have been laying through the winter. I don't supplement light, except that the have a small, red nightlight in their coop. That isn't likely to mess with their cycles, is it?

So, it's only been 6 days since I turned off the red, night light. Still getting quite a few eggs from my girls. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with their very light molt. Hardly any feather loss, at all.Or perhaps their cycles haven't adjusted, yet.

I check them on their coop cams each evening, to make sure everyone is settled in. I have 2 coops attached to a single run/pen. The 5 big girls sleep together in the little coop, because it's what they know. The 4 younger girls sleep in the big coop for the same reason. Without the little nightlight. I see that sometimes the big girls have trouble hopping up on their roosts in the dark. If they become distressed, I'll go out with a flashlight to help them see where they're hopping.

6 eggs, today. 4 large and 2 from the youn pullets. I'm not complaining, of course. Just hoping to get them readjusted. These are my forever girls, and I don't want them overworked in their youth
