lots of feathers

Hello again... my four and 1/2 month old chickens are loosing a lot of feathers, long and short one... is it likely they are moulting? They seem happy and are growing, as young buff orpingtons look beautiful... are doing a great job weeding my backyard garden... Thanks for being here for us newbees...

She's to young to be molting - Can you see feather loss on her or just lots of feathers on the ground?

That sounds like a moult to me. If you notice anything odd, like they are not themselves then I would worry.
