The pen is getting greener and greener! Dragon has found his favorite place to display this year, which is next to the trash can in the pen we keep all their food in. That is probably so he is always right near the food so he is first to eat, or he is using the food as an advantage to attract the peahens...I always try and help him out by throwing food in front of him while he displays that way the peahens have to get close to him!

Oh and I got two new plants today and planted them. One of them has to go outside of the pen though, because Pip was pecking at it. She is my main culprit for destroying plants.

This is one of the new plants with Ice checking it out:

Here is what some parts of the pen look like right now (the small tree in the left hand corner is the other new plant):

In this section is were Dragon normally patrols when he is not displaying.

All the peafowl like to lie around at some point in the day, so here is everyone chillin'.
Pip might decide to nest here:

Here is Alto!

Damsel is lying around in some grass and some kind of rose in this picture.

Dragon likes to lie up against the fence.

Here is a good comparison of two year old Alto, and four year old Dragon.

Poor Alto fantasizing about Dragon's train. If only I had a pretty eye feather filled train...Then maybe Pip would like me...

Ice is the best at lying around.

Here is a rare moment, Ice walking up to Damsel being non-threatening and wanting to preen her.

I picture of Alto I accidentally took, but I like it.

Here come the peahens! (probably because I baited them in lol).
Pip doesn't want that attention right now.

Dragon displaying for Ice. He later chased her but she ran off.

I don't have any pictures of him displaying for Damsel because for some reason he doesn't really display for her much, he pays more attention to Pip, then Ice. That makes me wonder if the peacocks are a bit selective too...Perhaps it isn't just the peahens?

Great pics! My young black shoulder that I brought home last week was trying to display for his hen but she wouldn't have anything to do with him. She would run off and bark when he came near. They will be 1 in June (unrelated) so they were just practicing!!!!

Very stunning pictures, I work at the Sedgwick county zoo in Wichita. I work at the restarant at the moment. I can never get tired of the peafowl, maybe a bit annoyed when they come into the restarant, but always gorgeous birds. Every time one of the peahens have little ones I take great pleasure in winning their trust.
