My 3 lovely new geese seem to preen themselves quite a lot. Is this normal? They are a bit 4 month's old and quite tame with me and my husband now. They look fine and very happy but I'm not sure if geese need any treatment at all.

preening is very important with water fowl, keeping their feathers in pristine shape is important. As long as they have water to bathe they will take care of keeping their feathers looking good. Gotta spread the oil all over to keep themselves water repellent.

does preening cause alot of lost feathers, .. my two sebastopol geese have feathers all over the place
They maybe molting.
