LOUD chick!

Do any of you have or had one chick that belly aches, protest and just chirps ALL THE TIME until you put them outside?

If you had one that did this as a chick did it outgrow the sniveling?

No one else in the brooder complains as loudly as this little one.

I have one now 3 weeks old that I took from the hen.
During the first week, it was so loud that we could hardly hear tv.
I figured it was lonely so I would take it out, hold it, and wrap a blanket around it and it would get quiet.
I guess it got used to me doing this that I HAD to do it every night to calm it down so it would sleep. After about 30 minutes I could put it back in the brooder and it was fine.
When it was about 10 days old I had another solo hatch and put them together.
Now neither chick makes much noise.
How many chicks are in the brooder?
Maybe it just needs a little more attention than the others.

I do believer seattlearies had this same problem but with her adult hens. They wanted out and if not let out would make noise all day... sadly she had to get rid of hers.

i have a 10 wk old chick (shes all by herself) and she was like that. now shes relaxed, and calm (she lives outside now) but when you call "LENOOORE" she answers with a kissy noise (the sound she makes when she eats... its kind of weird)

How many chicks are in the brooder? Maybe it just needs a little more attention than the others.

There are 4 total in the brooder.

This baby does get cuddled alot when my DS comes home from Kindergarten, and is very content ridding around in his sweatshirt pocket, or Tonka truck. It also does settle down once outside and I have an occasional tantrum from it once outside but NOTHING like the fit it throws inside.

That is cute rosyposyosy. I am glad to hear she has settled down. Thank you for giving me hope on this little one!!

This is the one we think is the Roo I posted yesterday about her/him and you and speckeldhen help me out on it.

I keep telling my kid's that he is getting out all his loudness now so that if Blue does end up being a Roo he will be a quite one! I just wish the weather was a bit warmer and I would be more then happy to put them all outside in the chick nursery!

Pico, my Afirican Grey parrot LOVES Blue's peeping. Now not only do I have Blue peeping but I also have Pico "peeping!" Pico's peeps sounds like I have a 10 foot tall chick in my yard. We now call Pico a prehistoric chick!!!

We have a loud crazy house here!!

Chicks seem to have their own individual personalities.

One of our chicks would peep like crazy for the first 2 weeks
of her life. If I held her she was fine. My wife called me "Mama".

Some of our hens don't make a peep.

My Speckled Sussex, Brownie,
talks to me in that hen voice. She won't shut up but it's a friendly
thing. She wants to be on me.

Sometimes our Australorps just grump and whine to come out or
just cause their moody.

They don't call them hens for nothing.

Talk to my wife. She says I whine more than any woman she knows.
I don't whine. I grump, yell and complain. There is a difference.
