so the chicks have been here for 24 hours now, I've spent alot of time "oohh"ing and "aaahh"ing over them.
One chick in particular would chirp at me and I'd chirp back...we played this little game every time I went in there to check on them.
well now I have created a monster...lol
This little fuzzball can chirp so loud! She quiets down when I come back in, but after I leave the room she chirps and chirps...it's a bit funny, a bit cute, and a bit annoying.

I just got my chicks yesterday too. Yes, the chirping is indeed cute and endearing--until I "got in trouble" when they started chirping at 2 AM last night! I couldn't really move them anywhere else in the house either, as we have renovations going on here. But they do redeem themselves with their cuteness!

yup, my husband got up and slept on the couch...lol
I slept right through it....having 3 kids has a way of training you to tune things out

This is where using a red light can come in handy. Mine pretty much slept through the night using a red light.

Enjoy them while you can, tomorrow they'll be adults.

I too used a red "warming Light" and never had any issues with chirping when ours were chicks. I did have one that did stand out when I came in the room so I banded him as a chick. He ended up being my one and only rooster out of the 8 chicks we bought. His name is Elvis and he sings to me every morning.

Good Luck with your babies and God Bless,

I also have a LOUD "peeper" - was making a racket right out the box!

I used a ceramic heat lamp - NO LIGHT - they all went to bed promptly when the sun went down, and didn't hear a PEEP till morning!

My little jap roo used to chirp LOUD all the time. If I held him, he was fine.

He finally did settle a bit with a stuffed animal while in the hospital cage, but when I put him back in the brooder with the other chicks he cried almost constantly, because he wanted to be physically UNDER somebody, and if he couldn't be under, he was upset!

I put a box in the with a big rubber ducky from my kids bath toys and they go in there to sleep

....the box is kind of low so they have to crouch, should last for another week or so...they are growing SO fast!
