<Sigh> yeah I know!!

Ya'll are not going to believe what happened on yesterday. Ya'll know I always have some kinda drama at my house. Well yesterday was no different.

Well, as I'm walking around the chicken yard doing chores, I notice a turkey strolling in a wooded area. The area where this turkey was is not a usual area where the turkeys free range. Well, she got to the end of the wooded area line and decided to take out flying in the air back to the yard. So, I continued to watch her and her actions were not "usual". By that, I mean she was continually shaking her body (like a dog shakes after bathing to shake the water off of it). She did this a few times then took our running. Then she walks in the chicken yard and finds the dirt pit - the place where all of them go for a dust bath. So she dust baths for about 10 minutes and lays out in the sun and relaxes. Again, I found this to be "not normal". The reason I say this is because she had ALL DAY long to do this and waits to come out of the wooded area to do all of this. Oh no, that dog don't hunt with me. So, I continue to watch her. Then she steps in the kiddie pool for a quick pedicure and foot wash. After she wades in the water for 5 minutes, then she goes to the feeding trough to eat. She gobbles down some food and then drinks. After that, she walked out of the chicken yard to the human yard and then free ranges and eats a lot of grass. She goes back into the chicken yard and drinks water, walks around and bullies a few ducks. Then she walks back into the human yard and eats more grass. So, as I'm doing my chores, I'm watching her EVERY move. So then she heads in the direction of the wooded area. She strolls around a bit more being very cautious of her steps and her pace. Then when she thinks no one is looking, she sneaks back to the wooded area. As I'm watching her walk back to this area, I start moving slowly towards her. As she disappears into the woods like a thief in the night, I start walking fast to find her. Well, I get to this wooded area and I'm walking around looking for her, I see some brown tail feathers sticking out of a tunnel like area that is covered with grass, weeds and sticks. I stop and I slowly bend down and WHAT DO YOU KNOW .......... SHE IS SETTING ON A CLUTCH OF EGGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smack I can't repeat what I said but you can just imagine. I kneel down and slide my hand under her to see exactly how many eggs she is sitting. Well, she raises up so that I can get under her and I felt and saw about 12 eggs. :he All I could do is shake my head and walk back to the chicken yard while I'm asking myself, how did I let this get pass me. When doing my turkey head count, I knew I was short 1 but always thought she was goofing off somewhere and really didn't worry about it. Well that 1 uncounted for turkey was all along going into the woods, laying eggs and is now setting on eggs. Well, since she has been there all this time, there is really nothing I can do. I can't move her because she won't re-home herself. Although the area that she is in is not fenced it, the nest is so buried away, you can't see her at all. All I can do is just pray that nothing gets her. We don't have predators, so that is her only saving grace. So, now I will check on her daily to see when these babies will hatch. :th

And that's my drama for the week.

By the way, I have 1 Maran chick that hatched this morning and 1 was breaking out. So, I'm not a failure at hatching after all. I hope the other 23 Maran eggs all hatch. :fl We'll see when I get home.

Have a great day ya'lll !

:woot  Julie, incubated some chicks!! :celebrate  Congrats Julie!!
