Growing up (in Church Point) we'd go down to the mills in Crowley. We got bran, polish and rough rice. The rough rice would be anything from full-grain, to broken with chaff all the way up to and including the "sweepings" which is literally what it was. However, the sweepings were never the whole batch. The rough rice never looked the same from batch to batch with varying amounts of rice to chaff to broken rice/sweepings combination.

Took a ride to abbeville to check out a fairly new feed store called thibodeaux town and country. They are the only place around that has the pox vaccine in stock. Really cool place, if your in the area check it out.

How much is the vaccine? Did you look at the feed prices while you were there?

Vaccine was 6 or 7 bucks. Didn't loom at feed prices, was kinda in a hurry.

Not bad for the vaccine. How are the mosquitoes in your area? My baby turkeys are still recovering.

Not sure. I didn't go. I only went to the first one. Was really nothing to brag about when I went. Just a bunch of birds in the back of trucks and on tables and many didn't have water to drink and they appeared to be overheated. That was a huge turn off for me. I don't like seeing that. :/ But I guess that's what a swap is. I guess if I were looking for animals, it would be exciting. :/

I'm glad that you said that. I didn't want to sound negative about my home town's chicken swap but ................................. having those animals out there at that time in the heat is ..........., well let's just say, I wouldn't do it. I was up and working in the yard during those hot hours and I could barely stand the heat. I'm glad that I have PLENTY of shade trees, chicken coops and chicken houses that they can all run to to get out of the heat. I even have pools under the shade trees where ALL of the animals step in the pool and cool off their feet (even the chickens).

prett bad, wasn't gonna vaccinate but I got one that got the pox ao I decided too go ahead and do it. She's getting better though.

The dry pox aren't bad but when it turns to wet pox, you got something on your hands.
