"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd share, got an Australorp hen that went broody a month or so ago. I hatched some EE from my flock and only one survived. Soooo I purchased some Production Red chicks from the feed store( so it would have some siblings) and switched out her eggs for the chicks. She is now Ninja Mom and will not hesitate to jump in the air and kick you waist high if you get too close!!! Amazing to me because this hen was always so flighty. She's had them 3 weeks and they are all do healthy. My first time using a broody and I am hooked.

Good Monday morning everybody! hope all is well!

Went out to the "big peacock" pen yesterday evening to put fresh water in their wading pool - as I started through the gate- WHAM! I got nailed by wasps! - they had built a nest in the top corner of the darn gate -- I got stung twice on the back of my scalp -- boy did it hurt! still tender today....blasted the nest with wasp spray & went back 30 minutes later & blasted a few more who had flown in. Needless to say, the peas did not get their fresh bathing water yesterday - they'll just have to wait until I get home today.

We were putting up shade cloth on our grow out pen & ran into fire ants, so stopped & treated those mounds & put that project on hold, too.

I gave up and went inside -- to hear a cicada screeching in the living room! My Cocker Malcolm had brought it in -he doesn't eat them, just likes to hold them in his mouth - silly boy -- I grabbed a paper towel & told him to drop it - he promptly laid it down & put his big fluffy paws over it. Didn't want to lose his "toy"!

Gotta love living in the semi-tropical South sometimes!

WOW Terri! Sorry to hear about the wasps. What a coincidence you mentioned this. I went into the pea's flight pen and also noticed a nest. I haven't tackled it yet but I plan on suiting up and getting in there and knocking it down.

LOL @ Malcom bringing in a cicada and holding it in his mouth. I love it !!! :lau That was a Kodak moment. :gig

Hope that scalp feels better.

What's up everyone? I've been crazy busy the last few days and finally got to come home and just sit for a few minutes. We had a really bad accident happen at work early Saturday morning and between all the USCG, US Environmental, Under-writers, Lawyers, Owners and Employees.....crazy is an understatement.

Anyway, I have a friend at work looking for 2 peas! Anyone have anything they would like to sell? If so please PM me with the info, age, color, price and such and I will pass it on to him.

Gotta go check on my birds then go try and get some sleep......tomorrow is going to be another looonnngggggg day!

Chris

Sorry to hear about the bad accident. I hope everything is ok.

Terri is the pea lady with all the peas.

Have a good week with everything going on. :frow

How do La-yers and BYCers
It was nice this morning and still not too bad outside esp. with the sun being covered by the clouds here. It is amazing how good the 80s actually feel after a four or five months worth of 90's and 100's huh?
