"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Used to live outside Baton Rouge. Lived in New Roads for a while, LOVED that more than I can tell you, but the commute to BR got to be hard on our cars, though it was a very beautiful drive.

DH's family is in Lake Charles. I hate Lake Charles but wouldn't mind living in Jennings or Lafayette. We need to find someone that will rent to us and let us have chickens... if we found something like that, we'd be packin' up the U-Haul! I work from home so I wouldn't even have to find a job, already got one, and Farmer Lew works retail so I'm sure he'd find something there.

Don't think I'm gonna sell my colored eggs for $5/dozen out there, tho.

Thanks for the good wishes everybody. I'm back at work (1/2 days only) today - right now can tell I've been running around a bit much this morning but soon as I get home & ice down it'll be OK. Jim's better, thank you. I think the antibiotics they had him on were worse than the ear infection! They really did a number on his stomach.

Can't wait to get home & go bask outside -- we've had all the doors & windows at work open all morning to soak up this sunshine!

Come on home Cali! - hurricanes trump earthquakes, don't they?

Each of them has their own levels of devastation. I've lived through 2 major California quakes and a buncha little ones. They were nothing... and I mean NOTHING ... compared to Hurricane Katrina and her butt-kickin' cousin, Rita, who came to visit us a month later. Hurricanes are 10 times worse than earthquakes, hands down. Earthquakes are over and done with in under a minute. Can't say that for a hurricane.

And while an earthquake can leave devastation in its aftermath, it's usually confined to a small area. Not so much with the hurricanes.

I really miss the weather there, though. For three years, I had no wrinkles and didn't have to use so much as a smidgeon of moisturizer on my face because of y'all's wonderful humidity! I came back out to California and dried up like a prune within a week. I also miss being able to just say 'y'all" without getting funny looks from people. Hehehe. I guess I became a semi-southerner when I was there.

I kinda miss LA. Used to live in Krotz Springs growing up,moved to Bridge City/Marrero before I migrated to MS. Hadn't been back that way until this past October,I went over to Lawtell/Church Point area.Passed through Krotz Springs, but didn't stop.My dad who lived there passed away a few years back,so really had no reason.
