Gracie, have you had to trim hooves yet? How are your sheep managing to keep their trimmed? It's trimming time for me and I am thinking about putting sand down in part of their area with limestone underneath it. Have you ever heard of that? My sheep have the longest hooves in the world and I need to try something to make it manageable for them?

I thought I'd send this pic of my pals. What a life. Getting some peeps soon will drive these two nuts I'm sure. Great looking poch by the way. Got to love a gsd

Nope! Sure can't! I'm one of those people... I'm the one that's gonna poke the rotting carcass with a stick just to see what crawls off. LOL. But I'm also an entomologist, so I do have somewhat of an excuse. I'm not totally off my rocker.

The dog in my avatar was my catahoula, Saber. I lost him in October to lymphoma at the age of 14. I miss him dearly and still occaisionally morn. He was an AMAZING dog - very confident, independent, level-headed, and too smart for his own good. While I still have 2 other dogs, Saber was my boy. It will be a while before I am able to get another houla.

Being VERY lazy.

I do NOT miss the puppy phase, at all! At least when he was older, he only destroyed what I gave him. LOL

I think he was 11 in this picture.

... with Toby, my springer spaniel mix, and April, my heeler mix.

I usually trim hooves and worm around mid summer. I checked everyone's hooves a couple weeks ago, and saw no overgrowth. Does anyone help you with yours? I do all mine by myself, and while it's tricky, I've pretty much got it figured out!

They look so mistreated!

I love mine, but she is not allowed around the birds unattended. She is fine with the sheep, but she got a hold of a couple goslings when she was younger and I haven't forgotten about it!

I do it by myself. I lasso them up and hog tie them and commence to trimming. I think we should have a sheep hoof trimming contest. That would be a lot of fun. :gig
