Yep...once those cockerels hit puberty it's ANYTHING GOES!Why thanks for the compliments Sandy but in all reality, they(the chickens) deserve all the credits as I didn't have much say so or choice on most of the matters, LOL they mostly did it all on their OWN, whether I wanted them to or not LOL

What did you set so far?
My goose eggs went on lock down last night but I don't think any will hatch. This will be my 1st time trying to hatch goose eggs. Incubating goose eggs is like fighting with the devil. It ain't pretty. It is nothing like chicken eggs (cooling, misting, weighing, cooling, misting, weighing)

I had 11 goose eggs in the bator but only 4 were fertile. Out of those 4, dumb dumb stupid me cracked one egg when I didn't set it right and tried to put the top back on and it cracked the egg. Another one is too small, so I don't think it will hatch. So that only leaves 2 eggs to possibly hatch and those were eggs that were put in a couple days after I set the 1st eggs. Oh well. It is what it is.
While waiting on the peas to start laying, I guess I will fill up the incubator with chicken eggs (for practice) and hope that the peas give me at least 21 days before they start laying.
If all goes well, I hope to get some roosters for the freezer.
I set some RIRed eggs and some Blue ones and some Green ones and of course some of my world famous Atchafalya swamper eggs some mucklety duns and surprises for sure with what all is running rampant around these parts, LOL Sandy witnessed some of the actions and conglomerates around here. They are for sure UNIQUE as no one could possibly ever have another like it, LOL

True!! It's a win either way! Gumbo sounds good in this cool weather we are having. I can usually hold out until they don't have them in the stores anymore but not this year. I can't take it.
I think I will throw some chicken eggs in the incubator for the fun of it. I always need layers if they are hens and if I hatch out roosters, then that will be rooster gumbo. Win Win either way.

that would be nice! I saw a video on YouTube where they melted wax in the water and then dipped the bird... The feathers peeled off in big chunks. Anyone ever tried that?Now if I could find a reasonably priced plucker, I would really be in business.
That sounds like the same breed that I will be setting.
I didn't separate any into breeding pens, so I will get the barnyard special. I will have to tag them so that I know the are the BYS and not breeding stock (barnyard special).
I'm really just getting some practice hours in. This is only my 2nd year using an incubator. In the past, I had all of my broody girls to hatch out everything in the yard, so I never needed an incubator. Now, I am wanting another one. lol. I have 29 goose eggs that are under chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys. If my rabbits would go broody, I would put eggs under them as well. I haven't figured out how to do that just yet.
