"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

It did help some but they relapse pretty hard . This chick is a little different from the rest because i feathered her out with a peking duckling and they have become fast friends. If I let one out of the growup boox without the other it will stay with the box. She even forgoes roosting to cuddle with the duckling

I'm really getting this bad feeling that my shipped eggs are duds

they just don't look right when I candled them. I know its best to do that day 3 but this is my first hatching and I was excited

I got them on the 15 let them settle till yesterday at 9:30am candled this morning and idk they look off from the ones I've seen on here.
First don't get offended but WALK AWAY from the candler. It is WAY too early to tell anything other than if you have any detached air cells. Put them in the incubator, close it, breath, and wait till they have been in there 4 full days then try again.

Very excited right now. My daughter is pitching at her first travel softball tournament at the Cajun Classic Kick Off in Lafayette right now for her team, Southern Pride! Whoot.

Also, gosling number 30 for the season has externally pipped its egg and begun to zip its way out. Whoot!

DO NOT give up on them!
I am the world's WORST candler. Period. No discussion.

I learned a long time ago -- LEAVE THEM ALONE! -- quit trying to see inside -- every time you open that bator you are compromising your humidity levels.

I give mine a quick "sniff test" - once every 3-4 days -- when i usually have to add a little water to my bator -- if I don't smell anything "off" -- I leave them alone. If something smells "iffy" I'll pick up each egg & sniff it until I find the culprit & dispose of that one.

I have had 100% hatch on shipped eggs TWICE. and several 100% hatch rates on my own eggs. So.

And I've also - when I still candled -- had very irregular air pockets inside of the shipped eggs -- but - they hatched in spite of that -- so don't let that fool you.
