"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Ok everyone.... I need advice and QUICK! Here is the deal. I had some eggs under a broody... She was killed. They were out for a while.. I put them under another broody. Then she was killed. Chickenbelle told me of a few things I could do. I ended up putting them in shoe box with a towel in it and putting a heat lamp on them. Well today is hatch day. I figured they died and didn't expect anything to happen.. Well, one has externally piped. I har no idea what to do. What position the egg should be in.. Should I be misting it??
WOW! after two broodys killed (so sorry btw) and putting them in a shoe box and they are surviving you have a guardian on your side babes! good luck, and name those babies miracle 1, miracle 2,.. etc :D

Just popping in real quick to post a couple of (bad) pics of the "hatchlings". They are currently in a laundry basket brooder because I thought that I had a couple of more days before they hatched! Surprise! My hatch rate was really bad, but it was my first time and they were shipped eggs.... So, I'll take what I can get :)

PJS - I wish you the very best of luck with the eggs!!! If you don't have an incubator, then the shoebox & heat lamp would be the best way to go in my opinion. I don't know about chickens, but I know that with ducks and geese, you need to bump up the humidity. That would be my only suggestion. That and prayers! :) Hope they ALL hatch for you!!!

Thanks!! Some of the eggs aren't due to hatch for another week and a half but 2 were due to hatch within the next few days. I'm hoping the one that has pipped makes it. Oh, and no, no incubator. Usually let the broodys do it but....
