"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Welcome to all the new eggs today!

You people sure have been active, I had a lot to catch up on when I got home. Congrats on the kill! Cute "lap dog" pics! Kuntrygirl...Are you NUTS??? Third fire pit, I understand...Bat house? NO! They get into everything and while you can harvest their poo for money or better, there is only ever enough to stink to high heavens and not enough to do anything with. I had one follow my rooster onto the screened in porch last week and almost flew into me before knocking himself out trying to fly threw the screening. I have some that I never wanted in a barn that I no longer enter, no use trying to get rid of them because it would take more time money and effort than it is worth.

I'm with you on that one you can't make enough money to put up with the smell. Just ask Ron If you read what I posted today you'll get that one.
You've let the bats have your barn and your calling kuntrygirl nuts?? After you do your roof enlist help relocating them. I posted how we got rid of them. It didn't cost anything just time. Pam

That's a good one. :lau :lau :lau :lau

Bats in the attic or dangerous my aunts house caught on fire because of bat guano. It was an old house the bats were there when they bought it an from years of bat guano build up on the electric wires it ate the insulation off the wire an the attic caught fire. Please put your bat house far away from your home.

Oooooooooooo. That is scary. I plan on putting it far away from the house. Thanks for the tip on the fire.

I found a few bat houses online.

I could name the bat house, "Who Dat Bats". Get it? Who Dat? :lau

I think I"m going to do it and get a bat house and see how many bats I can attract to the yard.

Well, if the bats tripled at Pam's house, just imagine how many bats you would have at Fertile Acres. Lol. I heard bat guano is great fertilizer, too. Lots and lots of bat poop. Lol

You're right. I didn't think about fertile bats. I better re-think that huh? :/

X 2 – how cute! I never get over the thrill of freshly hatched chicks!
Busy with payroll today – SO GLAD it’s Friday!

Decided we are having ‘horse-doovers” for supper – spinach –artichoke dip w/crackers & crudités!

Welcome to all the new members!

My plan is to get 100 broilers. A couple guys that have pluckers have told me that I can borrow their pluckers, so I want to having a plucking weekend when that time comes.

My plan is to construct an outside pen, away from the toher animals, for them to free range all day and I want to feed organic feed but I have to find where to buy it. I want these birds to be 100% organic or as close to organic as possible. I don't use any pesticides or chemicals on my grass or soil, so they won't be eating any crap. I'll have to figure how much feed 100 broilers will eat in 6 - 8 weeks. I'm sure I will lose some before them but I'll try my best.
Ah! Don't say that! If I can raise 25 without any going down, you can too. You have a knack for animals I hear ;)

You all have been entertaining today. :love I had a poopie day in the attitude department. Maybe someone will kick me in the pants and tomorrow will be better. Reset button! I had to spend some time in the garden this morning. The peanuts were calling me. So I sat on my trusty garden stool and freed the peanuts from the ground. We got like 1/5th of a bushel. Growing them was totally fun and educational for all of us! We loved it! There have been TONS of mosquitos in the "Egg Hut" for the past 3 mornings. I have shoooo-ed them out. I accidently killed one and it had blood. POOR CHICKIES!!! I got some vanilla tree thingies at the Dollar General. We will see in the am if there is a difference. I got to spend a few minutes raking out the yard of the big coop. You know, one of these days I wouldn't be surprised of those chooks dug up a body. Every time I go in there I find the weirdest objects. Either the people that lived there were slobs or ........they were slobs. We have found chain(not from a bike), tons of broken glass(like from bottles), bike parts, car parts, other nameless metal parts, toys......and today. Underwear elastic :duc :duc I don't understand that. I always make sure the kids pick up ANYTHING that isn't compostable organic type stuff. So, I just want to know why in my almost 40 years nobody ever had me taste a chutney. Was it because I was raised up in the Midwest? Anyway I have all those peppers and onions I sat and chopped yesterday.......and I had bananas (those 29cent ones) And I found a recipe that used all of those ingredients plus more. I only used what we had here and substituted and adjusted the recipe accordingly. Holy Cow! That stuff is Rediculously good!!! I keep thinking pork chops :drool So chutney that has bananas in it. Who knew?! It also has cider vinegar in it, so it is NOT kid approved. They have vowed "Not going to taste that STUFF your cooking!!!!" Hahaha!
Sorry to hear that you had a bad yesterday. I hope today is a better day. YOu all are always so busy over there but that is a good thing. You all are finind all kinda stuff on your little treasure chest hunts. WOW!! I never had chutney before. I have never even heard of it. I just looked it up on the internet and that sounds delicious. You will have to share your recipe. That sounds like something very tasty to make. Was it easy to make?
