"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Welcome to the La-yer's !!! I'm in Slidell. Sometimes Ron leaves a post . Sometimes it's. Me,his wife Pam . Sorry your hen is a rooster. I guess you live where their not allowed. You'll like this thread . What kind of breeds do you have?

I just retired from teaching. I told my kids that if they catch me in an error or a typo on a study sheet that they are rewarded by a trip to the prize box. That makes them listen very closely and carefully read the study sheets. Lol. They had fun and so did I. But the classes in the afternoon got the best deal because by 2:00 I was making more mistakes. Haha
Linda, I sure hope you don't think I included you in my comment, because I know you to be a well spoken intelligent person, who would not try to punish a child for being honest or speaking the truth. My daughter is a teacher and I have a SIL who is a principle and both, like you, would agree with the student, mentioned! We need more GOOD teachers! On the other hand, I have recently learned that some schools have to teach kids to wipe their own noses and go to pull up their own pants after going to the bathroom! I was shocked! Isn't that the job of parents, BEFORE they go to school? No wonder kids have to take those tests to rate the schools' performance every year. If a teacher has to be a nose wiper, how do they find time to teach? The parents of those kids, other than mentally challenged ones, should have to take classes on parenting and pay for their kids education, instead of the "public" school taxpayers having to foot the bill! No wonder we have so many people who can't get jobs, today! Wow!

Country people are better disciplined and have better manners? In which city and state and which medieval time?

Uh, there were/are plenty of gun toting hoodlums in the country. History has documented the country gangs toting guns on their horses and killing people and vandalizing and burning people's property. This was going on way before New Orelans. Their are some country hoodlums as well. I know some that live by me and I wouldn't give them a cup of chicken fertilizer from my chicken coop or a pile of crazy ants so that they can start an ant farm. I wish they would move the HECK out of the country somewhere else and hitch up their trailers and the trailer skirting and haul it off to the closest land fill and dump it right there along with all of the trash (cigarettes packs, cigarette butts and beer cans - which is a great landmark that I describe for people that need to find my house) in their yard. A lot of these country people have poor health because they are too poor (may not be their fault because of their social status or their life situations) to afford insurance and their bodies look it (which may attribute to those stats that were posted earlier). Most have no dental insurance and the last 7 teeth that they have in their mouth are either rotten or hanging on by a thread.

I think I better stop while I'm ahead. I feel that little child in me that is about to burst out and say something that could be construed as offensive.

I feel that every person is given opportunities in life. What they do with that is up to them.

Stick a fork in me cause I'm done.

Just wanted to add that hoodlums also dress in 3 piece Armani suits ( $2,000.00) , wear Bruno Magli Rammola shoes ( $415.00), wear Rolex watches ( $10,000.00) and drive cars worth $100,000.00. This type of hoodlum can rob and has robbed people of their life savings without toting a gun and can change your entire life around and cause you to become homeless, lose all of your valuable possessions, lose your family, lose your health insurance, deplete your bank account and devastate your livelihood.

These are the people that I would be afraid of. Innocent folks never see something like that coming. At least when you see a gun toting hoodlum, you can cross the street or never venture off into their neck of the woods if that's what you chose to do. Some powerful CEOs and other execs can fool you and you would never know how big of a hoodlum they are until you lose your life savings that you had been saving for for years.

My son was labeled learning disabled and speech impaired. He knew how to blow his nose. Wipe his butt and pull his pants up. He knew his abc's and could read by three. You have to expect the best out of your child to get it. I didn't give him a pass because he had disabilities . To me it meant my son had to work harder to overcome his challenges. I had to work harder as a parent to help him do it. I always expected him to do his best. He respected me and did his best. No free passes here. Pam

I think of the exesc at Enron when I think of hoodlums.

Is there a difference between a good hoodlum (has manners, likes to share, eats healthy, does not carry a gun or weapon, does not participate in drive bys) and bad hoodlum (no description needed for this one)? :idunno

There are lots of those out there, Kuntrygirl. It's sad. On CNBC there are lots of white collar swindler shows. Most use ponsey tricks to use up other people's money to live crazy elaborate lifestyles. R. Allen Stanford did that here and elsewhere. One of my friends was invested in his firm. She was a retired Social Worker. It looked like she was doing well so I put my money there, too. Shortly after I did the Feds raided his firm. My friend lost 1/2 of her retirement money. And some people lost all of theirs. These people can't go back to work to try to restore their retirement. I was lucky. Stanford would have put my money in bogus CD's within a week or so when they were raided. They had already told me they were going to. I didn't lose my money. I am so blessed, I came close to losing it all. And I saved that all my life, sometimes $25 or $50 a month. And at those times it was a sacrifice to do that. During good times I did more, but I always put in something. I cannot say on BYC what I think of someone who takes money someone saved all their life to buy another Rolex or another villa on Lake Como in Italy. Grrrrrr
