Anybody else have this issue?  Any ideas to deter them from picking/eating my Styrofoam insulation?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I found more baby mealworms in with the 2nd container that I have set up for the adults. I actually am really surprised that the adults have lived so long. I transferred them to a 3rd container so they can hopefully make even more babies. I do think that I transferred less adults than the first transfer. So possibly we have had some die, but not many. Surely those adults can't live that much longer though!

So glad that we now have 2 containers of the mealworm babies to grow now. I do think it is going to take awhile though. They certainly do not seem to be super fast growing. But in the long run if I can keep the whole mealworm farm going then I should have plenty of big mealworms to feed......maybe once a week.
 
I ran across this paleo recipe and tried it for breakfast this morning. I thought for sure it was not going to work. The recipe just looks so strange. But it DID work, just like the recipe said and we loved it! We are trying to eat healthier now that the holiday season is over. This lady's website has tons of recipes that I am going to have to remember to give some a try. 3 out of 4 here liked this recipe. My youngest is still stuck in sugarland. lol

That's awesome! Good job! (i knew Louisiana would have me praising bug growers and wishing I was one too! Lol ok, I had NO idea...:gig )
But Nor did I think I'd be married with kids and be a farmer 6 years ago when I met my hubby online and we got married 6 weeks later lol so I should know better I suppose lol
I've been toying with a worm bin but haven't had the time. Come spring we are overflowing with these black worms and earthworms...maybe I can just scoop into bins of compost in spring lol tada!

My first flock found a styrofoam cooler in our garage. At first just a little pecked off. Then anytime they would get in the garage they would go straight for it. I don't think they ate any,if they did it didn't hurt them. They loved trying to tear it up. So we put it out of their reach and made sure they couldn't get in garage any more. I think as long as they have access to your insulation they will continue to tear it up.Pam

Ok. How did you meet on line? Were you still in Cali then? Amazing what life brings around.

Calling for possibly teens Tuesday Morning. My coop is open on one side into the run. The open side faces south. I put some plywood covering the open side and added two 100W work lights. Should keep the temp above freezing at least.
