It is a good day, and a good day to you all. Good dreams and good thoughts. This morning only chilly, in another hour it will warm up.

This morning Mary, my mama hen was out next to the feeder waiting for me. Under her her 6 little chicks keeping warm while they waited. I was an hour late........ You know what that means. It was not long and a couple of the girls was tapping the glass door. Where is our morning treat?

I just love watching Mary and her chicks, she has every one trained to leave her baby's alone. I was fascinated at seeing the little chicks eating from the same chunk of treat at the older girls, the last group if pullets still have to wait until they are done or grab and run. Time moves so fast when your heart stands still.

Last week there was some talk about true Ameraucanas. I ordered some in 2011 from Ideal Poultry as part of my first flock when I started with chickens. Since then, I have read up on EEs and the many mixed breeds out there called Ameraucanas and Araucanas. So for the sake of conversation, I will post pics of my two remaining "Ameraucanas" and let you guys discuss whether I have EEs mixed breed or true Ameraucanas. I raise them for eggs and fun, so it doesn't really bother me either way, but it should make fun discussion.....

Thank you. I have a solid white male and I can't wait until he gets a tail. I have seen adult white peacock's trains online but never in person.

This is an internet pic of a white peacock and his beautiful train spread out.

As far as the feathers, I bartered my feathers last year with an event planner from Texas. She drove down to get them and she brought me about 60 cans of canned preserves that I will be eating for the next 3 years.

This year, I plan on selling them to people for arts and crafts.

I remember that great trade!! Can't wait to see your male pea. So from this pic it looks like they have markings just solid white. Pam

I M G. That is so sad. I'm glad the neighbor is stepping up for the cost, but I hope he realizes the cost is not just the cost of new birds. The cost is the horror of it, the cost of raising them to that point and the cost of a broken heart. I sincerely hope that your neighbor makes absolutely sure that it could never happen again.

My chicken plucker is halfway done. I think my "builder" tried to re-invent the wheel and it took longer than I thought. But he said that he doesn't like to rush. He was going to use a motor from a grinder (and I asked him not to because I didn't think it was going to work but who am I to say what will and what won't work. I"m just a nobody who doesn't know nuttin' - yea right) and guess what? THE MOTOR DIDN'T WORK!!! There was NOT ENOUGH power to turn the plate. Who knew? Didn't I tell him that? But oh know. Crazy Julie doesn't know anything.

You knew!!! Ask him if you mentioned that before? Lol!!!
