"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I have been very busy the past few days. I have had little to ad so I havin't posted. My mothers time is drawing near. It is more then I can bear. I feel as though my health is not to good right now. Infact non of us are in good health, at lest I know the root of the cause for our lest of annoying problems. You can never be really ready for this. I take great comfort that mom will be at home, she knows her family is there and she is greatly loved. 97 years of a good life, giving to others, and loving life, when she finally sees the light and passes to the other side she will be greater and imbraced by all those that have gone befor her that she touched with her carring.
You have been so very blessed to have had your mother for 97 years. I lost my grandfather last May just a few months shy of his 94th birthday. The day before he passed, he said, "Celebrate". So, that's what we did when he passed a day later. People from all over the country flew in to celebrate his life. There was much laughter and the stories were wonderful. As your mother's time draws near, PLEASE remember to celebrate. She has had a wonderful, full life. She has seen and experienced so much. I hope that you and your family find peace in celebrating her amazing life. With each story and laugh, you honor her.

I love this. That's what I want when I go.

We have a small pond with goldfish, minnows, frogs n such, plants...fish are going crazy so I go look, found 2 CX :( in the pond. Drowned. :th
Well one in it and another next to it. So mad. They musta followed the layers and got stuck. We have large rocks serving as stairs and sunkin crates other chickens hop around on catching frogs and bugs or cool off in the summer. The CX must not have been able to get out. One did, almost. :'(

I'll be netting off the pond now. Boy are the girls gonna flip out :( only a few more weeks til we process tho and then back to normal while we brace for the heat.

Finally got the burn pile going, been damp all winter! Now only 6 more this size to go :gig
Fresh ashes being dried now (it rained lol) for the dust bath areas. I usually take Rubbermaid tub and collect as much as possible between burns for them. They like it and works like DE as a critter preventative.

See the pillars? They wrap around the house. Each space is being battled for right now. ALL THE WAY AROUND the house! By giant carpenter bees 20 of them each taking a space and mad as heck (or hormonal lol) :arg they will battle each other and it sounds like a powerlines shorting out then they dive at us on the porch and hit us or the dog. They haven't hurt anyone, only hit no stings. It's every year lol tis the season now. I find it funny throughout spring the hover in the center of the squares the pillars make defending that space so hard lol
They're annoying but kill mahogany wasps too so we just bat them away...for now.

If you own the house and don't want to replace your pillers get rid of the carprnter bees. FYI Pam

I understand not being able to donate it to a food bank because there are a lot of regulations to that, but can't they say free to the taking clean up dead hogs? There are a lot of people that are too ashamed to go to a food bank but would clean that up in a heartbeat for good free meat. Anyone that hunts doesn't worry about meat being certified.
With all the pesticides and other chemicals they allow on our vegetables and the processed feeds and growth hormones they give cows, chickens, lambs, etc that are sold in grocery stores, their idea of 'certified' is not exactly what I care to hear about! MORONS! I say! LOL
When Doug brings home a dead wild hog... I must say we havent been sick or bothered in any way! And that whole, uncertified hog tasted glorious!

You summed it up! :thumbsup

If the government allows a chemical used in yoga mats and rubber soles to be used in the bread at Subway, I'm still scratching my head about their thinking parasites in those wild hogs. :idunno

They also tell us to be afraid of backyard eggs. You might get sick...wear gloves and a face mask when dealing with chickens then wash your hands... I think we failed their course and are in better health then them.

OK SO IT IS ONLY THE GIANT SALVINIA (molesta) THAT IS GOOD not the small clover size leaves (minima)
Read what these people did with their swimming pool... scroll down for the chickens benefits... bout halfway...

FOUND THIS FACT WHICH I FOUND QUITE INTERESTING
' Notwithstanding its invasive species status, researchers at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas discovered that extracts of giant salvinia have shown promising signs of inhibiting growth of human cancer cells without destroying nearby healthy ones.[8] "
