"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

didn't get on over the weekend but wow... yall blew the thread up. :) Hope everyone had a great mother's day. Welcome to the newbies! Friday, I picked up a trio of rhodebar's and 2 black wyadnottes from Chickenbelle. Sunday morning, we picked up 4 ameraucana hens and 2 buff orpington hens (my mother's day gift). Hope everyone has a great day!

Checking in from Leesville. I have my coop built and am picking up four hens tomorrow. They are Barred Rock. Two are 2 years old and two are 4 moths old. I am on a forum for my other hobbies (motorcycles, Home Theater, Computers) figured this place will be a good wealth of knowledge.
WELCOME!!! I'm in Sabine Parish!!

Pam, So sorry to hear about the attack! I hope she continues to improve. Keep us posted. The coop pictures look fabulous!!

Kuntry, Babies waiting at the gate? That's UNHEARD of at your place! Hope they all continue to be healthy. Post an updated pictue of that spoiled baby that still wants to bottle feed! He/she just loves you. LOL...

Remember when I had the mite problem? Well, EVERYTHING has been treated multiple times, INCLUDING the chickens. I've used Sevin spray in coop, run, on ground around coop, and run. Chickens have been dusted (Sevin), treated with the EXPENSIVE K9 Advantix liquid (under each wing, back of neck, above vent) multiple times. They may glow soon. I am STILL seeing feather picking!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! They look pitiful!!!!!!!!!!!! My husband says that they are the ugliest chickens he has ever seen!! Bare butts, some with bare lower bellies (Polish), and some picking feathers at base of tail.

I am ready to have a nervous breakdown! I KNOW I have cleaned and treated and RE-treated correctly. NOW WHAT?
Thanks,
Laurie

Can you see mites? Once I had scabies. I was so horrified that I treated myself and environment much like you did for your chickens. The treatment was so intense that I itched from the treatment even after the scabies were long gone, but I kept treating everytime I itched. Could it be that there aren't any more mites?

I haven't seen mites since the first time I treated. I just have to figure out: 1. Treat with something else? 2. HOW to make them stop picking 3. I need their feathers to grow back!!!

I have passed HORRIFIED and will now probably need therapy and wine (wine therapy) to recover from this.
