Hi! I'm new here and I'm from Opelousas.
If hubby gets wind of that its all over
We have to stay within distance to jobs but I'm job flexible!a paycheck is a paycheck to me, goal is to be at home making that food, making that money to pay the land lol
...until we can pay a note on what we can produce
working hard on that part too lol
Yea!!! That's right!!! First 3. First of all, who would make a dumb rule that you can only have 3 chickens. Not a chicken person for sure. Figured I was cool bec city ordinance allowing 3 on the city limits. Then a year later as I happily tend my 3, I find out the subdivision doesn't allow ANY. So, I thought I would get just 2 more. Samantha was selling her Amercauna babies. Now, come on. Everyone needs a couple of Amercaunas. Well, about then I learned about "birds of a feather flock together" and figured my favorite lonely RIR needs a friend. Only cruel person wouldn't understand that. So I need just one more to balance my flock. It's necessary. It's required, really. It's out of my hands. I have no choice. ( here's where I need to imbed the foto of the little girl shrugging about where a new chicken came from). Really it was all out of my hands. And so are the bunnies. Honestly I had nothing to do with any of it. Ok. If you want me to tell the complete truth, the chicken fairy did it all. The chicken fairy brings babies and brooders and coops and while I sleep brings more chickens and coops and enlarging the chicken yard. It is out if my hands, I say. Out of my hands. And everyone knows if anyone ever makes a person pay fines or even criticizes any person that got their whole chicken setup from the chicken fairy, then the chicken fairy tells the head fairy and the head fairy commands the BAD fairies (who live in a cave in the achafalya swamp) to go punish the ones harassing the chicken person. I cannot tell you what the bad fairies do to the harassers bec this is a G rated thread, but, trust me, it is really bad. I have a feeling the chicken fairy may visit me soon with an RIR. JS. This is another reason we need a compound. One last thing. Word to the newbies. We're a bit off here. It's ok, we are mostly harmless. Don't ask about "mostly".
LMAO! Chicken fairy enforcer! Hahaha!Chicken fairy song...shut the front door!![]()

August ought'9 we packed up our broken down beater car up north, quit our high paying city folk jobs that barely coveted rent (crazy cost of living) and headed for Louisiana. We had a 1 year old girl, was 5 months pregnant with my boy and cancer. It was hell that 1st year. I swear I met the devil. But guess what? Here we are. Alive and buffer than ever, a healthy family & honestly, all thanks to Louisiana. The docs here were the only ones to say we can save your boy (when I was sick and pregnant) - up north just wanted to save me and insurance wouldn't cover experimental or new procedures. Thanks to that move (that my amazing hubby made happen even in the most insane challenging of times) I'm here to see them. My girl is 5 years old, this is at her PreK graduation (I know I in now "preK" big whoopI am always the one saying "prek is glorified daycare" but to me) -but that's a 5 year marker they said I wouldn't make.![]()
I am so proud of them for being so perfect and of hubby and I for making all this happen despite what the world tells us.![]()
Oh ya, topic....(what's the topic)![]()
and we are becoming farmers down south here and getting the chance to teach our kids what real food and work is...life is good... Life is amazing with chickens in it![]()
I'm not sure whether it was the (good) chicken fairies or the BAD fairies that brought Kuntrygirl 100 meaties. We have to ask her. JS. We can also ask her about the peacock fairy, duck fairy, sheep fairy, and let us not forget the fairy that specializes in fertility, the fertile animal fairy. Not many people ever met this fairy bec it's always at Kuntrygirl's house. She can also tell us about whether the fertile animal fairy is a good or bad fairy.
Not trying to barge into conversation, just wanted to introduce myself. Carry on.![]()
