I now have SIX broody hens.

I can't believe I have chicks ordered for pick up next week as well. I may switch eggs out with them under one of the hens. I'm going to be overrun! If you guys don't hear from me again, the chickens have mutinied and I'm tied up in the coop!

I went outside to bring the girls back inside before dark and they were all piled inside of the coop like they knew it would be their home soon!

Also, notice Dottie undid her bandage. It still worked a little so far, because I saw her fly for the first time today! We retaped her a little better this time and I'm hoping it helps.

Great posts everyone! I had to take a breather from all the crazy around here and do some reading and catch up.

We have been getting some work done around here. Lots more to do on the new chicken housing and work to do in the house as well. My sister is coming down from up North the end of the month. We do NOT have a big house. We feel crowded now that our two kids are both the size of adults since they have been growing weeds. I cannot imagine what its going to be like with adding 6 more people for the time of their visit.

All the young pullets we got in February (that haven't gotten butchered so far) are looking really good so far. We have a few more that are scheduled for the freezer and then I think we will be about where I want to hold for awhile. The last few we butchered we skinned and it went very well and fast. I just couldn't do the scalding water with it being so hot.

Plenty of working and sore backs around here.


For some reason my computer doesn't want to post pics tonight. Guess it needs a nap too.

My favorite part about summer watermelon......giving the rinds to the chickens. My littles are getting so tame and absolutely loved it!

Wow no post yet today I guess I'll break the ice.

Last weekend I canned bread and butter pickles . Then I canned blue berry jam. Then my cat went missing. he was fixed and never went far from the house. I searched everywhere . He always came if I called him and would run from others. I've had him along time so it's sad and not knowing what happened sucks.. My chicks are two weeks old I'll post pics a little later. Pam

Last weekend I canned bread and butter pickles . Then I canned blue berry jam. Then my cat went missing.

he was fixed and never went far from the house. I searched everywhere . He always came if I called him and would run from others. I've had him along time so it's sad and not knowing what happened sucks.. My chicks are two weeks old I'll post pics a little later. Pam

So sorry about your cat - hopefully he'll show up soon!

Went to the dentist today. Left side of face still numb. Thirsty, but cant' drink water as it runs out of the side of my mouth! Sitting at my desk, trying to keep from talking so I won't bite the inside of my mouth. Just beat my all time record at spider solitaire -
4 minutes, 31 seconds. Is it 5:00 yet?

this is a legbar poullet. The sun and chickens weren't cooperating. The next one are Bielefelders pullets

the next is my 4 month old legbar roo.

next is the Bielefelders trio. They are super sweet and doscil. I'm really loving this breed. The rest are 2 week chicks legbars and copper Marin x Legbars

oh no I hope he comes back very soon and was just catting around. My mom lost her indoor cat once, we put the litter box out (familiar smell) and he came back. He was gone 2vweeks. Also fixed.
