"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

OK , got an urgent question. I accidentally fed my 6 and 10 days old chicks with adult fermented feed with lots of boss, scratch and oats. I put out extra because I knew that I'd be out a little today. When I got home they were just sitting, crops distended awful and it's been a couple of hours. I put out sand and dirt and didn't feed them anymore. Now 2 hrs later they are moving around and scratching but still distended. Can I do anything?

I hear you can give them flat coke, the acid will help digest the food in their crop, remember it is better for them to be hungry for a while that to over eat, they are like puppy's, they will eat till they pop.

I wouldn't whip my horses as hard as they should be. Good luck with the chickens. As long as they act lively they will pull through. Even the amputee. Infection is your biggest enemy right now. Are they dirty? I would try to take the most injured ones or dirtiest ones and give them a bath. Just immerse in a tub, work through the feathers, add a little dawn, rinse out and dry.
Thanks for the tip forghetful

Maybe make the next feeding just a lil soupy so they can still get nutes if crops are still working on bigger seeds.

Thank y'all so much. I feel better. They are just so darned cute that I don't like them to be in danger. Two more snakes were spotted about 50 feet from the coops. Man, Aimee has been pouring ammonia around the place. None in our yard but you never know.

Hit or miss WiFi this evening! On day 4 of a 13 day stretch at work, already pooped :lau
Hmmmm
Checked on the gardens, pulled apart the bee hive (Not DESERTED! OMG) whoops but i'll figure more of that out later.
Assorted watermelons doing awesome. Have no idea what kind or when to harvest :lau

I've kept bee's for years what do you need to figure out? Ask me I can help. Pam

Mistress of the property had a beehive.
Person that was maintaining it left state.
It did well, but caught wax moths. Maggots everywhere. Disgusted the mistress.
It was disassembled, seemed for weeks it was abandoned.

Bottom box of the stack had the bees! :th
Figuring they'd NOW Give up and go to the many available areas in forest...but no. They want their box. Queen is not giving up lol we tried and lost. They're peaceful if pusting about, even dismantaling the hive and moving it around to vacuum larva with dust buster bees left us alone ...but smoking them, then shaking them into new area just angered them.

My plan is to clean, screen top and reassemble a smaller hive. (didn't know about anything til had to research what maggot :( ) wax moths now have traps hanging.

It was 5? Boxes high? Maybe 4 lol. I have to go look at pics. And seems not quite nuff bees in a "new" coloney (1 year old) to cover and protect from moth or beetle intruders. Smaller hive they can grow with might work better?

Wax moths lay there larva in the bee larva area so the bees end up taking care of them till they hatch. When they hatch the larva {What your calling magots}eat the bee larva and reak havoc on the hive. they turn into moths and fly away. You must have had a strong hive to begin with if a smaller colony still survies. The bottom box in hive always houses the queen and her larva the upper boxes are for honey production. Pam

Smoking might piss them off but they think fire and fill up on honey to save the hive. When full of honey they don't sting. If you want them gone i'll come get them.
