I am jealous.The last 3 days(not counting today) we have gotten huge winds,dark cloud banks and vicous lightning.All for the actual RAIN to literally skirt a mile above us.Seriously...went to wally world yesterday.Bright hot and sunny at the house.1 mile up the road where we turn onto the highway...Ground all soaked and dark ominous clouds..... WTH?
We got 2 minutes of drizzle...MONDAY!!!!
We did get some overcast...which I was glad for..got some stuff done.

Don't feel bad. It's done that for the past week here!! I couldn't believe it when my husband called and told me it was raining since I was a mile from the house and it was dry as a bone!!

My ducks are fighting the horse fighting the pig whose fighting the chickens over the waterhose....lol....

SAME thing here! gorgeous dark clouds, thunder, etc -- could actually SEE the rain down the highway----NOTHING here! NOTHING!!!
Out w/the waterhose again---garden's almost dried up to nothing by now except for pole beans, eggplants & tomatoes. Can't really complain as have put up a ton of stuff, but was hoping to keep some of it going a bit longer---note to self: next year stagger planting of garden!
I'm ready for the weekend. Insomnia the past couple of nights is driving me crazy!

Good morning everyone. I was outside walking the chicken yard on yesterday and noticed that it was so muddy. That means that it rained!
I am so happy. My little garden perked up a little bit but needs more perking. This weekend will be filled with moving babies from the nursery to the day care and moving the day care crew to their new location. Fun, Fun, Fun. The guineas are growing and being rambunctious. They have already managed to fly out of their brooder, then squeeze out of their Guin Pen and then run into the chicken yard. I tried to run after one but that little devil spread his wings and flew like an eagle into the woods. He didn't go far. He came back. But just the idea of knowing how fast they are and how far they can fly. I will be placing more wire along the openings of the dog kennel to ensure that they can't get out.
When is broody season over? I'm ready to see it go far far away. I'm done for the year. After this last batch of broody hens have hatched their last eggs, then no more hatching allowed for 2011.
I walked into the chicken house yesterday to see this group setting on who knows who's eggs. I have heard of 2 birds sharing a nest but 4.
They roll the eggs back and forth. As soon as one gets up to change positions or leaves to eat, the other one steals her eggs. C'mon ladies, give it a rest already.
