Doesn't your bator have the cooling program? When you go to lock down do you take the deviders out? Or do you leave them standing? What is your lock down humidity %. Pam

No - I have an auto-turner & the bator & that's it. I used to move the eggs to cut-out cartons for lockdown but the past few hatches I've just left them standing in the dividers - haven't noticed any difference - but that wasn't a full bator. If I have a lot of eggs hatching, I move them to my old Hovnabator at lockdown & lay them on their sides & give them some room. I boost humidity to 40% at lockdown.

Mine is 80-90. :)

I've said a few choice words today myself. This weather is absolutely uncalled for.

The ONLY thing that made me feel better was I pulled up the Wisconsin weather around noon, where my MIL lives in Ripon. It was a balmy ZERO degrees, wind chill of -15, and 100% snow.

I said a sincere prayer of thanks that I live in La!

Thanks for the info. I took the dividers out and let them lay. That's what the Brinsea site says in the past I left them with the deviders. The cooling program isn't an extra you must have an older model. It's part of the programming on the top. Pam

Don't know if y'all can tell, but that's my whole flock crammed underneath the big gardenia that's against the house. They spent the whole afternoon like this. I kept checking for stuff, never saw anything. Then they came to the porch and hung out a bit. Then I heard an alarm call and I went to the door ...

BIG GRAY CAT.

So big. Bigger than my 12 lb cat. Gray cat had been sighted for months (years?) by everyone but me. And then there he was just INCHES from my back porch.

Ugh. Now I'm all wound up. And worried, because the poor thing lives outside. And angry, because that's probably who ate baby Nugget. But also worried. Now I really want/need a live trap.

Hey Linda, so you have two Marraduna chicks hatch so far?

Is there a thread that talks about the temp for the cool down period you mentioned of 75F? I found the post where Ron talks about it on the egg shipping thread but no temp is mentioned. I'm just curious about where the specific temp came from and there reasoning behind it.
Okay 4 down and 4 to go plus 3 Lemon Orphingtons . They look so much alike I can't tell, but it's 4 so far. They are so inquisitive that I'm banking on it's being the Basques. They are watching me watching them. so cute.
Yes on the cool down, 2 hours will get you to 75 degrees. This is a site that I found and reported on. Ron said he thought his way was better and with a 95+% hatchability I can't say he's wrong. I'll be doing this one time cool down on day 16 for 6 hrs next time I think.

That's great how many days before you think they've all hatched. Pam
