Is that air cell too giant? They're all like that, practically 1/4 to 1/3 of the egg. I'm so afraid I'll have shrink-wrapped chicks and I won't be able to handle it. :hit

Don't stress, you're doing fine! You'll have a great hatch.

She will probably have a perfect first time hatch! :P

Well I've already lost two, so it won't be totally perfect. I can smell the other one, now. Guess I should eggtopsy soon.

I'm hoping for that nice weather too!! We're having my SIX yo's birthday party on Sunday, and I can't imagine anything worse than those wild children trapped indoors.

I'm on day 8 and did a quick candle this morning. Left the eggs in the try and candled from the top and sides. Had to take the one cracked egg that came from coastline out, was starting to smell.
Pam, one of the Legbar definitely has life in it. One had a blood ring. The one with the rolling air cell never started. I did see veins in the Bielefelders but was very hard to tell what was going on them. I didn't get a count of how many of yours and coastlines were developing.

Like the pics ^ :)

I'm up late too. As you get closer to hatch day its easier to tell. Dark mass is chicks. This time I candeled from light at top and would move to side of egg. This workes better for me than lighting the bottom up. Pam
I'm so incredibly inept on candling. I can tell the clears. Period. I'll try this next time.

Thanks Cody! I had two power outages during incubation and then the dog unplugged the incubators for 12+ hours. Then Saturday during lockdown the incubator spiked to 104!
it's amazing I got them hatched!
I think the one with the backward leg is a splayed leg, so I used a straw and rubber band to help it strengthen. So far he just gets picked on by the others.
Gotta chuckle on this. When I first got my incubator I had it out in the storeroom. In the first day it went from 99 to 110 spiking all over the place. Kept trying to adjust and lower and finally brought it in the house with a continual 70 degree temp. I hatched 11 out of 15 shipped eggs. The very best ever. I never got any even close.

I reordered from the seller and she shipped me 18 and I still had 11 hatch. So maybe high temps the first day is not so bad.
