"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

A teacup is a great idea! It's pretty mobile, but I'd rather it not be disabled. I saw this, but I'll try the teacup first:

That is so cute! I doubt I would ever go to those lengths, but seeing a chick in a walker is pretty cute.
Oh goodie! thanks for sharing that! Now I know I don't have a chicken math problem, either!

Edit to add: I was just talking to my friend in NYC & mentioned I am once again developing a fairly bad hatching addiction problem & she said "it's just middle-of-the-winter-have-to-find-something-to-do" syndrome. OK I'll take that excuse!

I know, right?! And she was totally serious and says that towards the end of summer it will probably be back up to the higher end again.

She hasn't had these but wants them. I saw a auction for then apparently they are a rare breed. The auction was for 6 eggs the bid was 45.00. Pam

Right, it was the other kind that came from ideal.

BTW, avian influenza is confirmed in 5 states now. It's being spread by wild water fowl. Its essential to try to keep wild birds, especially water fowl away from our chickens.

Kind of looks like its putting weight on the left foot, but not the right.  Right?  And maybe something is off with the right leg or hip.  I've read of people putting chicks like that in a small tea cup that will keep it in an upright position.  Maybe someone else can give you more advice.  That is what I would do for a day.  Get it into more of a supported correct position and see if nature takes over with strengthening muscles.

Looks like something is wrong with the foot. In your pic the toe isn't fully extended. As for fixing it you will need to resurch as for as splint or tea cup etc. I do think some high protein supplement would help the soft tissue. Like ultra kibble or whatever you have that is simular. Rlcrow had a chick with a leg problem she splinted the chick didn't make it. I hope you have better luck. Pam

Hello all :) We live in Opelousas and are getting ready to build our coop. Still deciding on a chicken breed but may get a few different ones. Bantams would probably work out best since they're smaller ;) Then we can get more of a variety lol I love the color eggs marans lay though. But, when asked which came first, the chicken or the egg, in backyard flocks, first should come the coop! XD

With all the concern over the Avian Influenza outbreak there was a great informative discussion last week on the Cochins Int page and they put it all in a document so that people could share it. But I cannot share documents here for some reason. Can any of you? If you can I can maybe message it to one of you and you can post it. I am still reading it as it has a LOT of info.
