Some of my new chicks that hatched on Father's day.

So far all I've been doing is selling or butchering what I've hatched because the offspring are not up to the quality I'm willing to continue breeding from. So some of my hens went from being breeders to only being qualified as broody moms for me. I have a few more hens coming to the right age that I can test them out now and see what kind of babies they throw. The fun continues!!

Are they cochins?

I posted mine in the gender forum yesterday. At first I thought I had a pair, then I thought two roos. Now I'm cautiously hoping for a pair again. ;)

Yes ma'am! These 2 are crossed between one red cock and one on our nicer black hens. We are going for a long project of improving the reds body type. If you see a baby hatch then the comb is more visible because the down is wet. Looks like I have one hen and one cock with these 2.

Congrats Mire! Although I wouldn't tell many folks you get excited when your cock crows.

Now they're just funny noise makers.

So mire, guess what? Lol! This little guy is waiting on his new home he is going to this weekend. We came in and turned in the light after they had been asleep for awhile this evening. Lo and behold this tiny guy decided he was going to try to crow! Haha! It was the cutest thing ever. He is so sweet.

A friend invited us out to pick blueberries. Holy Moly! I've never seen 8ft tall blueberry bushes. They were awesome. This is what we picked all together. So we ended up bringing home about 4 gallons. So fun. Our bushes are just babies, so we will be waiting for a couple of years before we get much off of them.
