"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Pam, The XW's look good. They're gonna be some sharp looking birds.

The little Barb is kinda cute in an ugly sort of way :)

Thank you for posting the pics.

Tonight I put 112 eggs in the bator for my sister. They're all from her barnyard mix flock. I'll have to get a pic. They're an assortment of colors.

Hey!

I live in Covington/Mandeville area

St Tammany parish was home to me for a many a years too!

I use everything for my chickens... Ive been working at building the ground up around here and i had to move alot of first just plain Dirt to the area to build it up! I used some stump grindings from my Uncle, then i get pine shavings, grass rakings, and leave rakings :) it was hard to get the ground right here but were managing alot better w this sunny weather!

Hey, y'all! I'm new here.. Been wanting to pop in and say hello. I got 4 baby pullets from the Hammond Feed and Seed back at the beginning of May and they are doing well. We have them in a large chicken wired yard and the coop is made, but still needs nesting boxes added and to be painted. Our 1 year old Catahoula Leapard dog, Luna, is doing well with them. She likes to run at them when we let them roam and expects them to play back, but hasn't gotten rough with them at all. I live in Baptist, on the boarder between Hammond and Albany. I like this group you've all got going, nice to see others around me are engaging and helping each other out. I just finished making a waterer with a large plastic bottle and tray.. Much easier to add ice to and keep filled than the little ceramic dishes I was using before, lol. I saw someone mentioned a while back thinking of trying to grow garlic this year.. Good luck! I just pulled up my first batch in May. It was a lot of work considering I hand tilled the ground myself! I didn't get any scapes and was surprised the bulbs didn't succumb to all the water we got over the spring, only lost about 1/4 to neck rot. All in all, a fun experience. These pics are a couple months old, chicks have grown since then!

Welcome to the group!

I'm bringing speckled sussex hatching eggs and baby cockerels to the Moss Bluff swap tomorrow! If you're there, stop by and say hello. :D I'm not telling my prices because Pam will fuss, but I'm desperate to get rid of these suckers.

Lemon, I had to do the same as Cody and Google "dubbing." Kudos to you for being able to do that. It will be awhile before I will be strong enough for that.

Thank you. I really think it was more traumatic for me than him. We kept him in just to keep a close watch and make sure no flies got to him. We let him go visit this evening and go to roost. But I'm going to go out and check to make sure everything is good in awhile.

I have 3 Gold Sex Link, 2 Barred Rocks and 2 Amercauna.  They are in a chicken tractor right now as they were only a few days old when we got them.  My husband is in the process of building their coop.  I have sand in the tractor now as it stays in one location.  I was really concerned about fleas and mosquitos with the heat and humidity but it seems like my biggest battle right now is flies! Pesky things!!  It seems like most of the info I have seen are people who live in the North and what type of sub=straight they use.  I wanted the opinion of a fellow southerner as we seem to have more "Critters" down here. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Welcome! :welcome

I've been using a new to me product this year. It's called Quick Bayt. I'll post a link also. It is a granuals type of product. I put out fresh every couple of days and I set it in an area that the flies kind if "hang out" in the shade. I actually place 2 stations in back and 2 in front of the barn. It has cut the flies WAY back.

This is where I bought mine. But I've read other people say they find it locally at feed stores or TSC

I'm not going to fuss but I'll buy them and turn around and flip them for more money. Lmao! Had some one here yesterday buying Easter eggers looking for them. To bad we live so far apart. Do you ship eggs? If so how much? I will see them again sun. Pam
