I had another one dead when I got home plus one more that I purchased that looks weak. So I fixed them all up with the vitamins and electrolytes. And I have the weak one with me wrapped up so it can't get crushed by the others and I gave it some water with a syringe. Wonder if they would get mad if I bring the chick to work with me tomorrow?

Just a thought, but what are you using for bedding/litter. Could that be causing the problems?

Then thats not the issue unless u See them eating it? Im using the exact same thing...

Initially i thought, Usually from my understanding, if your cleaning pasty butt, then the temps are too high. Have u checked your themometers accuarcy by calibrating it? Really Not as difficult as it sounds, theres a Great thread on it in the learning center... Good luck!

This hatch is so large because, its probly the last one that will be able to handle winter in Any measure, and i want them moved outside asap

Lol well between work, family, projects, improving things a little at a time to make life easier. About two years ago I moved all my pens from not far behind my house to 100 yards from my house just behind where I was gonna be building a bigger shop. So I been having to carry jugs after jugs of stupid water 100 yards back and forth every day, now that i finished shop I finally ran my electricity and water, I have not ran my water underground to each pen yet like i use to have but a lot less walking anyway. Amazing how little things like that cut back on time every day chores. To many dang hobbies too I just dont have time to get on like I use to. I wish I did. Everything good though. Yea still breeding my game chickens, American, Spanish, and Asil. My wife hasn't put me out with the chickens yet, "YET"!

Does anyone give sugar water to newly hatched chicks? I read somewhere that it was recommended to do that for new chicks received by mailorder.
Edited to add: I bought mine locally (1hr 20 mins away) so just wondering if I should have done that just to give them a boost in case they got stressed somewhere along the way.

hello again! I give electrolytes to the chicks that i hatch, as well as probiotics, just for that extra lil boost. I read to do it on another thread on this site and i figure it cant hurt. I buy the lil packets of powder from TSC theyre 2$ for 3 packets. Each packet makes one gallon of one of the two substances, but you can mix the probiotics and elecrolytes also. Namebrand "sav-a-chik"

Use honey water it has vitamins, minerals and amino acids in it. It's better for them. Pam
