"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

@WhoDatChick

Thanks so much for sharing your picts.
I really have no clue other than scourging the internet for pictures and how to’s….

Your coop is really nice- spacious and clean! How may chickens do you have? What is your floor made of, mulch?

The run side picture will help me today!! I was just searching for picts on how and best way to build the run with hard cloth!
Thank you.
Thank you!
I have 26 with the new babies added this year! I still have five of my original gals that I started with five years ago! Some four year olds, some three, some two, and eight new babies this year. I usually add a few every year hence always needing/wanting more space😄
The bottom is just the ground which I do add undyed bark to from time to time which breaks down wonderfully! Also, I throw out the pine mulch from the nesting boxes when I clean. I have a skirt of hardware cloth around the entire coop on the outside, if that makes sense… I can try to get a pic for you. It’s pretty much all covered with dirt so you can’t see it very well.

It's nice to see someone else's open coop! I have 3 open sheds that each have some roosts and some nesting areas. These are in a U inside a pen with a poultry netting top. I also have a smaller totally enclosed and metal roofed grow out pen inside the main pen. I use a gate and panel system that allows them into either a second loafing area or the pasture.
My predator issues are like Ragfrey's but add wharf rats (Norway Rats) and mice. My dogs take out the coyotes before they get near the chickens. No minks but about 15 years ago a group of weasels were popping the heads off every chicken they could get ahold of. That's all they ate,the heads. Dept. of Wildlife guys helped trap them, it was 11 weasels. I had owl issues one year, too.

Are you serious! I haven’t seen any around but we have a wild bunny that hangs out in my chicken yard and as cute as he is I am so paranoid now cuz I found out that they bring deer fly which then lay eggs and the eggs hatch into botflies 😳😩😡 and we all know what they do! 😱
