"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

The babies are soooo cute!! I noticed yesterday my feed went up again-- now paying $18.69 for gamebird feed, no way-- tomorrow I'll be on the phone price-checking, or else I'll be re-homing more birds.

I slept a couple hours this afternoon & stupid headache has shifted & I'm just praying it's not an absessed toothache setting in-- have that "ominious" feeling -- upper teeth on right side just throbbing....Hey I bought some green tea yesterday so guess I'd better start drinking it & see if it helps!!

Hotter than Hades here too, and the darn cicadas just make it worse; I am ready to go outside & screech right alongside of 'em.

But it could always be worse, always counting my blessings & have many to count here.

Have a good evening all!

You guys can say that I'm just crazy (rightly so) or that I'm imagining the whole thing, but my EEs taught the marans to eat grass! They wouldn't touch the stuff until I moved the EEs out there and they figured out what they were eating.

Twiley, the crazy oddball yellow chick I hatched from your EEs is even crazier as an adult! It's really red, has tufts, yellow legs, and a ball of a comb.

It is much smaller than the other roos, so it didn't share their fate, but as soon as I can verify that it isn't a hen....

That sure looks like a Rhode Island Red. I'm so confused! I did have some RIRs with them in the pen before I gave them to you. If you incubated eggs right away you may have gotten a RIR X EE. I'm sorry....

proly something way back in the EE bloodline just popping out. It has the cheek tufts and a smallish beard.

Just saw your edit. No need to be sorry, after learning this, I may keep the lil' guy on the payroll for a while.

It's cute -- hang with it a while & see how it developes.

I've been confused over one of my Ameracauana roos from this years' hatch - did some researching & son of a gun, it's a BLUE wheaton roo! -- I forgot the blue gene can hide & then pop out again - that's what happened - I knew it was a blue egg because that's all I had in the 'bator - only could come from one of 3 mama's & only one roo - wheaton Eagle - and I have the blue gene on both sides, the black Ams are from a BBS hatch - just didn't hatch anything but black hens from that bunch, the other one is wheaton Hawk, mate to wheaton Eagle & they were the only successful pair out of that batch (shipped eggs, thank you USPS & I know why you all are going broke).

Can't beat fun! Hope the coming week is good for ALL of us!

Good morning everybody

I've got two roos left to find homes for, if anyone is interested. One is a mottled houdan I got from cackle hatchery. The other is a black silkie. The silkie doesnt have much fluff on his head, but plenty on his legs and he's made some really nice babies. The houdan is 5 months old. The silkie is almost 2 years old. Both have been friendly. Something keeps killing my chickens and I have to start keeping my hens in the run 24/7, but I dont want to leave 3 roos locked up together. I'm in the Covington/Bush area. Could probably meet you in town. Just PM me if interested.

Good morning, just finished up with the dogs and breakfast, and headed out to sweat my butt off feeding chickens! I brought a friend over to the dark side after helping her fix up a chicken coop and bringing her some chickens Saturday! She even got a beautiful Marans egg Sunday...I think she is already planning to get more, lol! Well, gotta get my chores outside done...I have classes starting today, booo!
