I'm really enjoying these new waterers I made. Cut an inch hole in the top of the bucket so all I have to do is take the nozzel and fill it up. No more carrying then to & fro!! Only thing is I have to let them out to do this, I'm thinking about getting me another hose & holder and put it inside the coop so I won't have to do that!!

Making things much easier to handle!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I know what you mean about the multi watering/feeding.Now that I've gotten the new pens finished (for the most part) I have them all in use with the several stages of youngsters, and a bell waterer in the PVC pen for anyone I may put in there or who may wander in.... So for the older roamers,I have that bell waterer, and several of the 5 gallon waterers and a few pans spread around. So much easier not having to run around with all these feeders/waterers.I just fill up the feeders every morning, and they are good...

Terri, How are your East Coast friends doing? Also, how's little Winnie doing?

You didn't scare us off of the forum. I've been so busy with the start of school that I haven't had a lot of time to play. Also, it's been hard to adjust to the schedule. After dealing with my students all day I come home exhausted.

Whiskeybay, that was a funny story about the guy picking up your slide. It had to be hilarious to watch. It reminds me of the show "Candid Camera".

Joe, glad to see you back on here. I haven't visited the Louisiana site much lately. It got so quiet on there that I stopped visiting it. I'm sure that once birds start moving again it will get busy once again. Your Seramas are a hoot!

Catdaddy & Cadjien, those are some very NICE birds.

Missi, congreats on the security cameras. I will want a full report on their performance.

I want to do the same thing at our property once we get the animals moved.

Cadjien, congrats on the new job. Traveling really does get old fast. Enjoy your new job.

Here are a few Sebastopol pics I took today. I'm posting them so that Mike can see pics of the two boys that are coming his way.

Blue (maybe gray?) Splash Curly Male

Same gander but a back view

White gander sporting gray and buff coloring. I don't know if this will fade, however, I'm thinking that he will hopefully be carrying these colors in his genetic makeup.

The curly feathers on the breasts of these ganders will fill in as they get older. It takes about a year for the curls to completely fill their chest and they actually look even better when they are two years old.

I believe that both of these ganders may be saddleback carriers but again I'm not 100% sure since we're not sure who the parents are. Of course, with sebbies even if you know the parents they can still trick you because you don't always know what genetic surprises are lurking in their genetic background. You'll learn more about them after one or two mating seasons.

Just got a second will be back later .Just wanted to post the young goosander lol ? And a project pic for Julie and cadjien

Mike, You see what I mean? It's very difficult to tell the gender on these goslings. My guess is male because his neck looks a little long and his legs are thick. Although, you could have a large female that would look like this. I'll go with what Cottage Rose said -- a gander. She has raised them far longer than I have and knows her stuff when it comes to sebbies.

Myself, since I haven't quite got the knack for vent sexing, I like to have them dna tested. $20.00 is a lot to test each bird, however, if I had to feed the gosling until next spring to see if it laid an egg it would probably cost me more than $20.00. Also, now that I know what I have I can plan my mating pairs accordingly and decide what to do with the rest.

On the chick, I'm sorry to hear that. The chick in the picture looks like it is a split (black & white) if so, EAT IT. I will hatch some pure ones this fall when they start laying again.
