That would be about right, wouldn't it? Isn't that how we got started to begin with - your 4 boys and my 4 girls? Both are girls? Well, in a way that's a good thing. You will have a greater chance of getting more eggs with 2 girls and more chances of getting more solid white pea for 2014.
Wouldn't that be funny if your place is the place that hatches all solid white girls and my place is the place that hatches all solid white boys?Get ready because I will be shipping some of those boys to you ASAP!!!!!!!! I won't be able to keep all of those solid white boys.![]()

OK all you poultry experts - is it possible for a rooster to be sterile?
Because I had 10 our of 14 Welsummers hatch out of shipped eggs -- but zero-zip-nada on my own RIR eggs!! I candled them Sat night & all of them were clear!! :/ I only have the 1 roo & he is pretty laid back - which I liked up to this point! I have seen him do the 'wing dance'. He doesn't appear to have any favorites. I just don't know, - what do you think?

Your Rabbits are Beautiful! Thanks for the pics! I have Only NZW right now, 10 does, 2 bucks and 6 litters and still more to kindle this month, but I have been selling the Bunnies as soon as they reach 6 weeks old ! Seems like everybody is looking for meat rabbits right now. They are telling me they are having trouble getting theirs to breed after not breeding them for so long with out very HOT summer. I hope nobody tells my rabbits that a Strike way called by the Rabbit Union, because they just keep downloading!!! I have orders for some already, and a breeder even bought some at 4 weeks old. I will be going to central LA on Wednesday to pick up 4 Mini Rex and deliver a male NZW. A lot on Bucks must have went sterile, because I have gotten a slue of calls requesting an mature or half grown buck. That surprised me !
I don't have any, but I heard they were very rare and hard to find ! I saw pictures and they are very pretty! Good Luck and let us know if you get any?I don't have rabbits yet, but I have already purchased the cages and built a lean-to to put them in. We want to get them after the holidays. I really want some Silver Fox rabbits since they are a heritage breed in need of help and I like their look. Anyone here have them?
When we lived in Grand Isle, DH was driving up Hwy 1, when a flock of Emus(DH called them 6 foot chickens) got loose and was running all over the road. Had traffic at a standstill until they got rounded up. They looked mean and frightening. I saw a special about eggs on Modern Marvels that said the shells are so hard, they drill a hole into the shell to get the eggs out and then sell the shells to hobbyist for $10 each to engrave designs on ! One Ostrich egg is equal to a dozen large chicken eggs in contents !You could've gotten emus for free here - somebody turned a whole bunch of them loose in the woods where my old boss has his hunting camp.
We have a friend who raises peas, but I have never been to his farm. I will ask if he has any white ones and let you know. He wanted to give me a pair, went to dinner with them, but his wife had a heart attack and we had to postpone. I'm gonna have to call him again, and ask about the peas !Do you know, I'm afraid that both - yes BOTH of my white peas are girls? We have not seen either of them fan - not one time!Burtis & Hindu & Cloud have all fanned & we know those 3 are boys for sure-- Screamer we know is a girl & she has not fanned (altho I know girls can).![]()
I'm glad you mentioned gumbo! I just remembered I have some duck & sausage in my freezer -it'll taste good tomorrow night! I made a big pot of homemade soup yesterday (vegetable beef).
At what age can yall tell the boys from the girls? We bought 1 pair and I am pretty sure I know which is which and then we bought 2 more, unsexed and not sure. One is pied and one is white. We are pretty sure the pied is a boy and thought the white was a girl, but kinda questioning the white one... They are 7-8 months old. Both are girls? Well, in a way that's a good thing. With the whites, you really can't tell for sure until they hit breeding age (2 yrs) unless you have them DNA tested. Since I'm keeping them regardless, it doesn't matter - although I really REALLY want just one to be a male since I think white male peacocks are sooo beautiful! At what age can yall tell the boys from the girls? Thanks for your input Jeff - I'm hoping that's all that's wrong w/him because I really like him a lot - he's a good roo!Dang Terri, you know I would venture to say he's probly not sterile but maybe just not interested too much, so to say. Right now just as the hen/pullets are effected by light stimulation to produce eggs(reproduce) well this has the same effect on some males too for the same reasons. It all goes hand in hand with the natural breeding time to be in the springtime with plenty to go around of everything (the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees) those Wellie eggs probly came form a person that has their breeders set up with lights if (eysabettin' man)
sorta goes with the territory.![]()
