X2.  I don't have much of a flock, but recently bought stuff for worms, etc. (very expensive) but my real concern was about the "can't eat the eggs"  warning.  This looks like a real benefit to the chickens for just about everything but pox.  I first heard about it from Brandy this weekend (Thanks Brandy for getting my brain going on this).  Sadly, I need a 1-2-3 to do something, and, even better, a foto with everything measured for me.  LOL I'm going to give it a try, too.  :love

I don't know what it is but I need 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, a photo, a voice recording, arrows pointing, sticky notes posted, blue dots on a paper, a statue with a sign around it's neck, a lucky rabbit's paw and a tooth of a bear all in one area so that I can understand what I am supposed to do. :lau :lau :lau

Anyone ever buy the incubators that they sell at Tractor Supply? They are still on sale and I am thinking about getting one to hatch chicken eggs. Both the bator and eggs turners are $34.00 each (i think).Thoughts?
I still have my old hovnabator 1602N - cheapie styrofoam model I got at petrus years ago -- I use it for my hatcher when I'm doing staggered hatches (peachicks mostly) - every bird except one in my original flock was hatched in that old bator. I've replaced the coil in it one time (you can get replacements at the feed store) Jim rigged it up to be forced air w/a little fan but I don't use that when I use it as a hatcher.

Bottom line, it's tricky on keeping the humidity stable & takes forever to come back to temps if you lift the lid (solved that by drilling 2 holes & running aquarium hose down to the water bins in the bottom) but it does work. I found it's a lot more stable if you have more eggs in it than just a few. It holds I think 42 chicken eggs. I put a piece of vinyl shelf paper in it for easy cleanup after the hatch.

Don't waste your money on those incubators! The turners work fine, and I actually ordered a few for my new incubator. The still air Little Giant is notorious for huge temperature swings. I'd steer clear if I were you!

and yes, I incubated every single pea egg from the get-go last year. Out of the 18, there was one non-fertile egg in each of the four hatches I did - I opened every one. One of them was one of the two you gave me at the beginning of the season, other three were from my girls & laid at different times in the season, so I don't think that makes any difference - the first laid eggs were just as fertile as the rest of them.

Yeah I have one full right now it is good for the price, you need it to be indoors out of the elements and a more controlled environment as it won't keep steady temps outdoors, not in sunshine areas or in the draft of the vents either. But for 35-40 bucks makes for a good hatcher. I use 1 of those 36 pack egg crates(its just the right dimensions) with a dime sized hole in the bottoms for egg stands, works good and they don't tip over like dozen cartons or cut up sections of them JFYI

When u want to up load a pic. In the reply box you should see 3 small squares in the top left corner. One has a "B" on it. The second had a thing that looks like a chain link. The third one has another little square. That is the one to use to upload pics. Just follow the prompts and all should go well.
about that.... Lol... I can get that far but then when it says enter URL, idk what to put


Then right above where it as for URL. you should see a bar that says to upload from this divice. Press that
400


Then it will ask you to choose existing or take a picture. Then once you have chosen a pic press submit. Then. Reply
