"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

so i need help. i recently got a barred rock hen whose a year and three silkie hens who are also a year. they laid for the first two days and now arent laying at all. any suggestions? iv had them for about a week or two

too bad you weren't doing that, say, next Sunday. Lol. I'd love to watch and learn from someone experienced. A friend of mine got some Cornish Rocks from TSC (she didn't know what they were) and I told her what they were and promised her that when the time came, I'd help her send them to freezer camp
We can give you explicit directions. Trust me.

Yummy -- fresh chicken! It doesn't get any better than that. I have a few hens that I need to process because they're getting old.
I have Lavendar Orpingtons due to hatch this week. It's the long way around to get a rooster.

On the sebbies, I have 7 goslings so far and hope to hatch several more. I expect that I'll be hatching sebbies until the end of May. What I plan to do is keep them all until the end of my hatching season, then, I'll spend a little time sorting out what I have and what I'll plan to keep for myself to improve my breeding program. I have some placed but hope to have extras for sale. I have about 30 eggs in my incubator right now that are developing so I'll have to wait and see what hatches. In addition, I have 5 of my geese that are still laying but I don't know for how much longer. With the gaggle of geese that I have my goslings could be either smooth breasted or curly breasted in either white, gray, buff, splash, gray saddleback, or buff saddleback. I'll post pics periodically so that you can see their progress.
I just got in 2 cockerels that are just over 3 months--very pale lavender coloring. They came from Thistledown Farms in California--a vet owns it. Would you like one? It would be a quicker way to get you to your man bird ready to get down to business.

Sometimes they have to adjust to new surroundings to produce new eggs. I would probably worm them just in case, as that will also cause a change in laying. Remember that you need to toss any eggs for two weeks after worming.

Bear is home!!! We don't know where he was, but after an extensive search, we took a short break and was sitting on the sofa, having a cup of coffee and planning our next move, when Hubby heard crying on the porch. I can't hear very well any more, and he was afraid to let me open the door to find a badly hurt or dying dog, that I helped his mother birth, when she was having trouble getting him born,. so he said nothing, excused himself and went outside to investigate. A minute later, here comes Bear, with his head very  low and hurried to his bed, without saying anything, or greeting anyone, not even his sister.  He knew he had done wrong and went to give himself a time out in his bed. Of course, I went immediately to see if he was injured. He was fine, but won't utter a word as to where he went!:barnie He stayed in bed a long while, in dog time, and then came into the kitchen, saw I was still upset and went back to bed. He will not have doggie door privileges for the rest of the day! I told him if it ever happens again, he will have his collar taken away for a day! He is very proud of his dog collar. I think he feels like it is his membership to our family. When he gets his bath, we take his collar off , while he is in the tub and if it doesn't go back on as soon as he gets out he gets up[set, looks for it and will bring it to us with a whimper, until it goes back on! Well, just wanted to let everyone know he is safely back home again.:celebrate

YEA !!!! I'm so happy!

So, my bad day got worse when I got home. I have a blue Wyandotte hen that's been laying on some eggs and apparently one hatched today (a few days early) and I found it dead in the water when I got home. Poor little thing drowned. I feel terrible. It was cute too... All black but with a yellow stomach.

So sorry to hear about this. :hugs

Glad that you like the recipe. Let me know when you try it.

Good morning everyone . I hope that everyone had a great weekend. My weekend was cleaning the coops and cages. :/ Had a lot of customers over this weekend. I had 2 more goslings to hatch over the last few days. All of the goslings have been sold as of this weekend. I went to check on the over goose eggs that are under all of the broody hens and I found where an egg was cracked open and a gosling was halfway out. It looks like it is pre-mature and should not be out of the egg. I don't know what heathen cracked the egg open and left the baby this way. I had to bring it inside and put it under the heat lamp. It looks like the baby should not have hatched for another 3 days or so. The eggs is not absorbed yet. It was still alive as of this morning . I keep talking to it and it talks back so I am hopeful. :/ I really don't think it's going to make it but we'll see.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.

Thought you all might like to see this! My stepdad sent me this picture of an egg he picked from his white marans. That thing looks like a potato

I have no clue how the hen passed it, but the eggs on the bottom are large to extra large so that should give you an idea how big this thing was!

He cracked it open expecting a double yolker, and guess what he found? ANOTHER EGG!!!!

I recently read a story about it happening in China, but never expected to see it happen this close to home! How cool is that? (I'm sure the hen isn't as impressed as I am
