"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I fed the fermented feed to the animals this weekend. They seemed to like it. I don't think that I can do this on a regular basis. It's too much work. I have too many animals to take on this task. Feeding fermented feed to almost 300 birds is WAAAAAAAYYYYY too much work for me. :/

Yep I agree, it takes me 4 hours or more of my day now to do all. Just what I need is one more step to take to make it an ever harder chore,I mean hobby LOL Its not as simple as just slopping the ol hog is it?

Especially this time of the year brooding biddies is a lot of extra work it is a muliti- time a day task, it seems they are always out of something ever time you check them little hogsLOL

You are so right. It's not as easy as that. And don't even mention the biddies. :th

Fermenting is a great idea but I can't do it. :/

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.

Thought you all might like to see this! My stepdad sent me this picture of an egg he picked from his white marans. That thing looks like a potato

I have no clue how the hen passed it, but the eggs on the bottom are large to extra large so that should give you an idea how big this thing was!

He cracked it open expecting a double yolker, and guess what he found? ANOTHER EGG!!!!

I recently read a story about it happening in China, but never expected to see it happen this close to home! How cool is that? (I'm sure the hen isn't as impressed as I am

That is SO amazing! Just when you think you've seen everything, something like this comes along!

Poor hen. Was the egg inside normal?

Maybe they just need to get settled down & feel like it's "home" - I've never gotten full grown hens before so I don't really know. Anybody else out there got suggestions?

I know I don't have as many as you & Jeff, but I'm in agreement with both of you. Way too much work! I'm going back to my old way of feeding them.

I think if you have a small operation or are home all the time, then it's probably worth it. Me? I like efficiency, so from the sounds of it I may just have to scratch the fermented feed idea!
