"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

To all my BYC-ers and LA-ers with pea fowl... I have heard and laughed at the stories of what happens when they decide to go visiting neighbors and etc. and how they fly to tops of buildings and trees. BUT NO ONE EVER SAID THEY COULD RUN LIKE A CHEETAH

. One is loose out here at work and we tried for about 30 minutes to catch her. I think she was laughing at us the whole time, finally she got tired of playing and went flying into the wooded area next to here.... Any advice now???? Besides new running shoes...

Now I know how the coyote felt every time he chased the roadrunner...
Oh yes, they are very, very quick. The times we've had loose ones, thefirst time, we were able to lure him back into their pen at night -- after the rest were roosting for the night, we opened the gate, tied a rope to it & hid behind our storage shed until the loose one found his way back into the pen -- this took 4 (wet, rainy, cold) nights to happen. The 2nd time one got loose, it was in our big pen & Jim put the divider up to secure the rest in the back half of the pen & then took part of the fence down in the front part & the lost one went back in (he'd been pacing the fence, trying to find his way back in) & so secured him that way.

And yes, both times, the loose ones just loved to fly on the top of the 2nd story roof of our house - I guess they feel safer up high.
