"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

We are making and painting birdhouses at school today so naturally I threw on some old clothing I wear when I'm working in the coops. I refuse to get paint on my "teacher" clothes! I got to work, went to the restroom--and found that there is a large rip in the crotch of my pants. What to do? I duct taped my pants. Unladylike? Yes. Resourceful? Definitely. Geez....is it Monday again?

Good morning & hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day today. My one guinea hen hatched about 15 keets all by herself -- I knew she had a nest hidden but never could find it until yesterday - it's inside the base of an old dead pecan tree. I counted about a dozen little ones this morning so she may have lost a few last night - they are putting themselves in the coop at night but roaming every day just like they always have done. I accidentally got a little close to the keets & all three adults flared up at me like one of those blowfish so I very carefully & slowly moved back. I'd love to catch the little ones & pen them up but I don't think I want to risk getting beaten up that bad!

and thanks to all of our veterans.

Congrats on the keets. So exciting !!!!!!!!!

Must have been drinking some of my wine when those eggs were being marked huh? Lol

That is too funny. To be honest, I desperately need glasses but I keep putting it off. It like an admission of getting old. Lolol.

So you're getting those glasses when? Have you seen this Sears Optical commercial? That might be you one day. :lau

I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I went to open the coop for the day to find the guinea Mom had taken all of the babies inside with her - it was black dark when I locked up last night so I didn't see them. That's the first time she's done that since she hatched them on Saturday. I watched them exit & not one chicken lifted so much as feather - everybody was nice & orderly & they left the babies alone. I think there are 12 or 13 of them - they move too fast for me to tell!

Have a good day everybody! Sandy hope you get a good hatch out of those eggs.

I will have another 5-6 peacock eggs by this coming weekend if anybody is interested in hatching any, PM me. Off to work now so won't  be back online until this evening.

Great job on the guineas. Those guineas are laying machines. I have my 15 hatched sold to someone. And I have plenty of eggs under chickens and in the bator. I may try hatching some more. The male guineas are dead on with the breeding. I think every single eggs is fertile.

I'm up to 6 pea eggs with this new laying cycle. I'm excited that they are laying again.

My kinda girl. :thumbsup I LOVE IT !!!! :gig We would get along so well. Duct tape is a staple at my place. It's like an American Express card. You don't leave home without it.

There is a lady that lives in Lafayette that makes duct tape wallets. The pics above are not hers but I wanted you all to see how cute the duct tape creations are.

Need some advice this morning.....my blood is boiling.. here is the deal.

My neighbors moved a few months ago and left their mutts behind. Friday morning, the two mutts were in my yard. Started to shoot them but ran them off instead. Friday evening, I saw the neighbor at the store. He asked if I had seen his dogs. Told him "yep, they were out by my chicken pen this morning. I started to shoot them but ran them off ".....He chuckled. Saturday morning,3 of my babies and about 12 eggs were gone. This morning, my favorite hen was gone. Pile of feathers in my yard. I'm beyond furious. My first reaction is to shoot the sorry mutts. Is that wrong? I live out in the boonies, and I dont think the shelter would come that far out to pick them up and Im sure not hauling them up there.
