Welcome to the La-yers!

SilkieBaby81 ~~ A group that unwelcoming doesn't deserve your business. I also wouldn't worry about Bobbi Porto taking any notice at all of the matter. My 5-6 month old silkies are from Bobbi and she's a dear to deal with. The pictures I posted a few days ago of the splash and white cockerels (the raccoon victims) were both from Bobbi. I recommend calling her direct and skip FB.

1MrsMagoo ~~ What a bunch of yo-yos! Thank goodness your son was there to give you a hand with the repairs.

Cute little babies!

Hi Terri and All,
This site is great. I'm learning so much. I live in Denham Springs and have been into chickens now for about a year. We have an assortment totaling 19.
I'd like to hear back from you Terri when you have time! about the Welsummers, also about your peacocks.
Thanks so much,
Amanda
Have a great day everybody!

I sent you a PM; check for it & let me know if you didn't get it. I think you have to have so many posts before you can PM somebody but not sure - if that's the case I'll send you my private email instead.

FYI - O'Keefe's feed & seed is now carrying organic chicken feed . They are trying to carry organic feed for all live stock in the future. That the place where the swap was today.

What a sweet baby! I somehow missed that you had baby buns. What happened to the others?
Hi, Brandy!!! I got a super sweet 1 year old bunny and a sweet young bunny for my granddaughter. A week later the 1 year old bunny had a litter of 3 but one was deformed and died right away and one other was a peanut and only lived 4 days, but this one survived and is growing so well. Amanda is so excited and said that her bunny dreams havefinally come true. The little Momma bunny is just as sweet now as before the babies. She's a good Mom and her only surviving baby is very well fed. LOL We rehomed the two that we had before. They got large and started biting. I was getting terribly scratched up everyday, so we now have a peaceful, loving bunny haven over here.

Good Afternoon Guys!! If you are sick of seeing my daily bunny posts, scroll quickly through this one. I'm just so happy that my survivor, Ginger, is doing so well. Here is a foto of Ginger at Day 8 with ny granddaugher and Lela at 6 weeks playing with the iphone with my granddaughter.

Thank you all for the welcome!

Primrose, cute Bunny! Reminds me of my sweet boy. He is the snuggliest bunny I have ever met!

Well, I for sure have 4 Roosters :'( The Barred Rock started crowing. And he is LOUD already. I am in currently in negotiations with a 10 year old!! LOL! And I don't think I am winning. She says, "But MOM, I watched him hatch from an EGG!" I would have to sound proof my greenhouse if I kept him and keep him in there! And I am thinking that he won't be one that would be suitable to show for 4-H because I am seeing some feathering coming in that isn't symmetrical. So......the Saga will continue.

And out of curiosity. If one of the little Silkies is a roo. Do they tend to be loud? They really are so cute. They are still feathering out and my girls say they look like little dinosaurs ;) I got them in hopes that if I did decide to have any eggs to hatch maybe they could do the job for me.

I just have to say that this is so great! I wish there was more places that would try to do this type of feed. At least as an option.

I just quit buying anything from one of the feed stores close to me as I have come across some very objectionable practices (to me at least). The owner insisted to me recently that medicated feed is the best and all the best are medicated. Hmmmm.......I didn't want to medicate my meaties and he just wouldn't listen. I usually only get feed at this store on an emergency last minute basis. I have always for years gone much further out of my way to another place to get feed always seems much fresher and they give better and more eggs. And then the other day I looked at their 'chicks'. I decided to just look on a whim since I would like to have more of the Houdans. The chickens were at least 10-12weeks old. CRAMMED into tiny cages that would have been sufficient up to maybe 2weeks. It was a very hot afternoon and only a fan in the window with the sun blazing in. I felt like I needed to rescue 100 chickens :( It has made me so sad and I have been thinking about that for the last 3-4 days since I saw that. I had gone in just to grab a bale of hay and didn't even get that.

Sorry to vent about that (and I won't name any place of business) but those poor pullets have me upset and I told my husband to that we will NOT be giving them any of our business anymore! I will just have to be doubly sure that I never run out of anything.

Awww! I would have wanted to rescue them too. Sadly, some people only care about the money, not the animals.
