"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hi everyone! It has been awhile since I have posted here. Thought I would drop in and say hello! I have had a lot going on at my place. Still working on the new coop, hope to have chickens in it by Sunday. I bought 24 Polish babies that are now 18 days old. Mixed colors. Gold Laced, white, splash, silver laced and wc black. They have been a riot to watch!

Now I have my first two fertile eggs, one from my polish and one from my appenzellars on lockdown. I know, just two and I am excited right? How silly. Anyway, more to come each week as the fertility rate has improved dramatically in the appenzellars finally.

I also got 4 lavender americauna pullets and a white silkie cockerel that I had been hunting for. Things are finally coming together!

We had another encounter with that huge raccoon this evening. I always look out the back window and check the lock before going to bed. When I moved the blind he was right outside the door. The cats had not finished their dinner, so he was helping out with that. That thing is huge. Maybe I'm being a girl about it, but he is kind of scary. We are plotting ways to take care of him/her. Snare, try the trap again.......I'm just glad all my hens are locked up tight.
Sounds as if you need my version of (live) traps here, mine are the Deluxe model Catahoula catchalls(3 of them) esp. anything that has fur on it in this area besides them. LOL from mice to big big cats and coon to beavers which are b@d@$$ they were trained over in the Atchafalya river bottom to learn how to survive in the worst of conditions gators and all in other words they were throwed out to the wolfs and had to fend and find for themselves they ate a lot of crawfish and pecans in between their catches and kills for meat. I rescued them from those harsh conditions and they are some of the best dogs I ever had or ever saw. They really appreciate and obey me they know who the provider is.

BJ he's still in training but doing a fine job at learning from the elders

Granny/Two socks(given name), She responds to Granny round here, BJ's mom and an excellent catcher/killer and trainer to her boy to carry on the traditions/hunting expeditions LOL

Scrapper dog(aka.Scrappy, which he is and he love his scraps too LOL) Grannies full brother and is shown here with his proud kill and his evidence he does earn his keep around the place. He caught the "posssum" while tied up on that 5 ft. lead one night and defured him just to make sure if it was playing possum and did crawl off later it would most likely die of exposure without its coat on, LOL

I sent this picture to folks showing my dog had captured an elusive chupacabra, HUH? LOL

Jeff

Chupacabra? can you see it LOL

This is Lilly BJs full sister she still lives over at Simmesport she is a good catcher/killer too they all got it honestly/genetically

Awww, I love their happy faces!!!! I am sure they would make quick work of this masked bandit. BUT I have problems with this solutions. Number 1. I already have 3 little ankle biters that are completely useless in this situation(except for maybe just scaring it over the fence and then coming right back to the door to be let in and continue their pampered life). I cannot get rid of any of the said "ankle biters" to make room in the feed budget for a varmit hunter. Number 2. And possibly the biggest reason is I cannot physically leash handle a large dog. If a larger dog even jumped up on me to say hi it could really bad for me! I really do like walking and not being paralyzed. Lol! I do dream of one day coming upon an older dog that would be useful for this situation but has all that puppy craziness gone and would not be a danger to me. Maybe one that is sensitive to that sort of thing.........I mean there has to be dogs out there that would fit, because there are people with physical problems that have service dogs. Number 3. It would have to be a DARN GOOD and Quick dog!!!! We have a fenced yard, in a neighborhood. The dog would not be allowed to leave the yard unless on a leash because of the leash law. As quick as I let my dog out the back door to scare off that coon......it was over the fence in a flash. My schnauzer wasn't able to get anywhere near it. And the dog would have to not have a taste for fresh chicken of course ;)........or my pet cats(who are great for rats and mice and snakes.......but they give the coon a wide berth).........or our pet rabbit. Good grief this is a zoo. I would borrow somebodys dog but I want to be sure this thing is D-E-A-D dead.

btw the pic of Scrappy with his prize is awesome. He is so proud of what a great job he did!!!

I am pretty good with dog training and if we ever get to move to bigger land in the next couple of years this issue is going to much bigger and more important than just one nasty coon.

10 keets have hatched so far. They were so noisey last night. I dropped 8 of them off this morning to their new home. Thank goodness!!!!

With that coming from Julie and her being from Opelousas an all. I figure that's a U of L Ragin' Cajun jersey, most definitely not a lswho one huh Julie.LOL
she and LSU are arch rivals and I think she could take on the whole team the way she carries on about them so, She's most definitely not the traditional La. type, La-yer LOL

Jeff

Or did you already know all this and just sparking up or throwing gas on the flame there PSJ? LOL

TGIF! quick Hi here -- not much going on - reduced my flock to a maneagable level - have five pea eggs in the bator rocking away & staying busy at work. I upgraded my cell phone but if I access the Net it saps the power in no time so I limit my time on line, as the main reason I have the phone is for emergency purposes.

Lol... No, I didn't know that about her. Won't go there about LSU. :) I thought it might be an Astros shirt because it looks like it might say Biggio and he was number 7. Thought it was funny she was letting the babies poop on Astros shirt. Heh.

That was the quickest thing that I could find. I think that I have used up all of my BATH TOWELS. :lau I am down to 3 bath towels because I have used them on the animals. I have to buy more towels for myself. :gig

I really am looking for a LS-Who shirt so that they can POOP ALL DAY LONG ON IT and then I can burn it in the burn pile. :lau
