"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Hi kuntrygirl! We don't have any peacocks right now. Up till about 8 years ago we had black shouldered peafowl. We had 1 male and 2 females so he was a happy camper and there was very little noise except during mating season. We sold them in 2005 when my husband starting driving truck and I needed to simplify things. He's off the road again so we got some chickens for eggs--and also some silkies and polish just for fun. We plan to get a male/female pair of india blue pied peacocks to add to our little zoo. We're on a waiting list right now.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

A special hello to kangareaux. Happy to know the neighborhood is going to the chickens instead of the dogs.

Hope everyone has had a pleasant Monday. We have had a chilled out one. We all were kind of worn out from SCHOOL SHOPPING with the kids yesterday. School will be here before the week is out! It always makes me sad, I love having my kids with me all the time! We planted up another sheet of 13 (6-pks) trays today. We planted all leafy greens. Lettuces, spinach, collards, swiss chard, and Pak Choy(a hybrid of Bok Choy). I soaked them good with the nice rain water we have been getting. By the way, the rain has been so nice!!! Its great for the plants that are left in the garden, and great for pulling weeds out of softened soil.

I love seeing all the pics of everyones little cuties!

kuntrygirl......girl, you must be feeding your animals right.....they are fertile, fertile! Maybe you will have to butcher and sell some ducks for people to have a nice fall dinner of duck.

Welcome to all the new addition to the La-yers thread!!!

I'll ask here because well, you guys are relatively close by. :D

We are looking for some female Ancona ducks. We have 2 boys that we got as duckling in the spring. (Because they were just so darned cute...y'all know how that goes! LOL!) Anyway, they are so stinking sweet! And now that we've been reading about them, we'd REALLY like some girls! (Our female GEESE would appreciate these guys having some new girlfriends too. Yep...my boys aren't picky apparently. *sigh*)

Anyone know of anybody who has any?

Yea, that's what I hear. :/ I am looking forward to roasted duck. I am kinda glad that I have so many ducklings because I tend to have more males than females, so that's perfect. One year, I had about 75 males. That was so good eating. :drool

Uh, I forgot that I had snuck 3 pea eggs under a broody chicken. Well, they started hatching last night. :/  :hit But they already have someone's name on them, so they will be gone by the end of the week. Thank goodness!

You could pre-sell for the next ten years and still end up with extras. On the bright side your birds are really happy or you wouldn't have so many popping up all the time.
