"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

Good morning. This morning I fenced off the area where I grow the grasses for the chickens and bunnies and have let the bunnies play under supervision. They are running and kicking and twirling and having a grand time. Great bunny tv this morning.

The grass area. If you look hard you can see Lela the white bunny coming out of the tunnel they made on the grass.

GinGin inside the grass tunnel.

The girls have been protesting that they can't go in right now. Lol. They always want what they don't have.

It looks like you have such a lovely setup. Do you grow grass for the chickens also? If so, what is their favorite ?

Matthew, my eight year old REALLY wants a rabbit. I'm stalling as best I can, because I don't need to take on anything else right now. When he sees your pictures, he's going to drive me CRAZY!!

Dulac, La here.... South of Houma, fairly new to raising chickens, started with 6 baby hens and 2 roosters, now we have 3 Road Island red hens, 3 Golden Sex links, 4 Easter eggers, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Ideal 236 (sounds like a science experiment, but ok), 3 RIR roosters and 1 Dutch Bantam Rooster, 3 Pekin Ducks 1m/2f, 2 Swedish Blue Ducks, 2 Rouen Drakes. 1 RIR started laying on Sept 10, almost an egg a day so far. 1 Pekin laying of and on. Only wanted a small coop... But it keeps growing! The kids love it though.

You'll fit right in!

Worse Mosquitos from China?? Has anything good come over here from China?? Really. Poison Sheetrock, poison pet food, poison infant formula, killer Mosquitos, poison toys...think maybe we should quit importing from China?? Sorry, don't mean to be controversial. Just really wonder.
What, you mean you want Americans to go back to work??? You are not being controversial, you are being realistic! Creating more work here will put more people to work, who will then spend more money, where in turn will create more work to spend more money and in turn effectively lower the costs and raise the value of the dollar. Now, you know our government can't afford for us to come out of effective poverty. Hence, them trying to convince everyone that raising, growing, and canning our own food is not as safe as their USDA approved poison that keeps getting everyone sick.

You mean we have to get rid of the "something for nothing" mentality that so many people have these days? Ahhhh... People actually WORKING for what they get?!?? This would be a new concept for some in our country. :/

Primrose you've hit my biggest pet peeve. Now I'm noticing all our shoes are coming from china. Whenever I shop I try not to buy anything from china. Its junk
anyway and doesn't last. Most people think I'm crazy to buy a more expensive item from America.then they wonder why they can't find job with benefits. I wish people would wake up a little more spent on quality is cheaper in the long run then buying three of the same from china. We have to support our own country!! Vote with your money! I don't wonder I know nothing good has come from china except a egg rolls that I can make in America . I know I'm preaching to the choir . I know there are others on here who own their own business or are self employed . There have been plenty of times we've needed workers and couldn't find help.People don't have the drive to make their own future anymore. If they can't find a job in there field they just stay on unemployment. I would take any job till a better one came along. They don't want to do manual labor. They wait for something to fall in their lap while losing their home. People think they can't change things. If every one would do one or two things we can make change. Start by buying made in America I know things from china are cheaper but they don't last and you don't know if you'll be poisoned in the process. If you can't find it here at least buy from a true Allie. China doesn't import our products .we're making them more powerful with our money while bankrupting our own country. Sorry to get on my soap box. And I know the things I've said don't apply to every one. Please think when you shop to use your money to support America .P

I am a true supporter of welfare for what it was meant to be, not for what it is. It was meant to put people back to work on things like the Hover Dam and roads while giving them skills to find other jobs. I don't believe anyone should collect a welfare check because they are too lazy to work. If we were to make those on checks work for their money and pass drug tests we wouldn't have something for nothing. Think about how much better our roads would be if they had to improve them. Since the government pays for workers to improve them anyway, we would make money not loose it by forcing these people to work.

I understand that some people are disabled and cannot work, however I do not consider not being able to get it up a disability. My husband was disabled and ultimately it led to his death. We fought for his check for 7 years and finally got it 2 months before he passed. During this time his lawyer got someone approved in under 2 months because they were 21 and said they couldn't get it up and it caused them mental pain. What does that have to do with an ability to work??? The system needs a revamp badly.

Peoples mentality needs to change. I don't know about you, but I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth and a trust fund. No one is guaranteed anything, these kids need to learn that because this something for nothing mentality makes me sick. I had to work hard and miss a lot to support my family but I wouldn't change it. My father taught my that the only way to get anywhere is to get your hands dirty.

I originally planted it for the chickens. I went to the store for seed and all I saw had chemicals in the seed. Bought one I thought was ok, spread it and realized it had fertilizer in it. Had to take up the screens and dug up all the dirt. Then I remembered I had organic bird seed that I quit putting in the feeder because it caused tall grass to grow under the feeder (in my garden) so I used the wild bird seed. Threw it into the screens and boy did it grow. Lol. Normally the chickens have access and they love it. They eat it and play in it like the bunnies did. They really like running through the grass tunnel on the middle. I just decided to make it a temp private bunnie play yard this morning.

Amen, brother!! There was a push on tv for everyone to buy only USA for one day and the dollar increase was crazy big. I planned a crayfish dish a month or so ago and had everything set. Went to Walmart, the ONLY crayfish were from CHINA!!! CHINA CRYFISH. For crying out loud!!! What is that??? Now, I am very ashamed to say I bought it bec I needed to cook right away. I really felt ashamed, even still do as I write this. On top of the shame, those crayfish stunk and made me feel physically bad. Why does any store, especially on Louisiana, sell crayfish from China.

When I was onTN there were two things I especially liked. One: there was a $500 fine for littering, but the cool thing was if you reported the litterer, you got the money. With every person on the road looking to make an easy $500, there wasn't any littering. Even the country roads were pristine and no prisoners picking up trash. Two: they started a program where if you were able bodied and were on welfare you had to be in a skills training program. Your attendance and progress went to the state. The state had subsidized day care for your children while you trained (no excuses) and helped with bus transportation. I think it was 18 months that you had to get trained and onto a paying job. If you did not comply you were cut off welfare and your chdren went to Children's Services if necessary. They were very serious about going to work if not disabled and getting it up was NOT a disability. It really worked.

From China in this state??? Why on earth? I have them in my pasture and I didn't even want them there. We have enough local resources for the stores to only stock local. This China importing is out of control!!
