Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork in a Slow Cooker Ingredients 2 1/2-3 lb pork butt (also known as a pork shoulder) 24 oz. (2 cans) Dr. Pepper 1 medium onion, cut in quarters and then again in half 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 1/2 teaspoons dry ground mustard 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper Salt and black pepper to taste 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce Barbecue Sauce of choice Preparation Place the chopped onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the pork butt on top of the onions and add the garlic, ground mustard, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, apple cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the Dr. Pepper on top and cook on high for 4-5 hours (or on low for 8 hours). Very carefully, because the pork will be hot, remove the meat from the slow cooker and place on a large cutting board. Using two forks, shred the pork by pulling away from each other. The meat should be very tender by this point. Place the shredded pork back into the slow cooker and continue to cook for an additional hour. Drain the remaining juices and toss the meat and onion mixture in the barbecue sauce of choice. I don't have an exact amount listed-just add a bit at a time until you get to your desired sauciness
OMG !!!!!!!! That looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD !!!!! :drool

What happened? Why the burn ban? Too dry in your area?

I love that I can burn things in the country. Too bad that I have to authorization and supervision to start fires from my psychiatrist. You know I was involved in that "fire thing" a while back

Morning, y'all. Had enough coffee yet?

Yeah, it's pretty dry here. If we don't get rain soon, I think we will have a canyon in my back yard!  Hey, maybe I can charge admission for it.  Hmmm.

Apparently the ban covers Rapides and Grant.  Possibly Avoyelles too.  So...until further notice...No smore's for me :(

No coffee here but had milk and granola and 2 glasses of ice cold water.

Y'all be careful with that burn ban. Not good at all.

I'm the same as you. I see a lot of stuff on Craigslist for free. Even if I can't use it, I get it and give it to someone else. I hate to see good stuff go to waste.

I LOVE Super 1. That is my favorite store. I just stopped by there this morning and got a couple of deals. I try to tell people about savings like that and those expiration dates. A lot of people can't believe it but it's true.

I always check the "clearance" isle at the store before I buy anything.  Before our hens were laying I could go to Super 1 and get a dozen eggs for 79 cents. There was nothing wrong with them. They were from the cartons of broken eggs.  I had always wondered what they did with those.
I very rarely buy anything at full retail price.

I rarely buy anything at full retail price either. I can't see myself doing that. I'm too cheap.

Yea, I am thinking about it and have been for quite some time. I would really like some. I would have that same problem. I would only need a little bit of goat milk for my personal consumption. I wonder if you can freeze raw goat milk.

How long does a goat give milk after it has given birth? How much milk can you get from it without interfering with the baby's needs? Just curious.

Yeah, I heard about the fire thing all the way over here in BR. A pretty big deal. JS

What kills me is that the deals are so great you know they are loosing money anyway. Why do they have to throw out the extras that don't sell and not donate it? Until they figure it out I will be racking up anytime I see a Super 1 and pass it on. A lot of people don't even notice those deals because they didn't plan on something not on their list. I go in a store with a sales list only and will compare the cost against what I know it is at other stores to see if it is worth it. Last Christmas I found 30 tubes of Colgate toothpaste in the walmart clearance isle (no price tag on them) and someone placed a whole bunch of $0.50 off coupons on top of them. Well the only price scanner we have is in the coffee isle on the other side of the store, I fought the crowd and found out they were only $0.50 before the coupon. Toothpaste is toothpaste and I don't don't care if they have decorations on the box, it still cleans your mouth. I have since found out by giving them away how many people don't have toothpaste as a mandatory on their list and don't buy it because of the costs. People were happy to get it and I was left a little confused. If I ever hit that again the whole town will have clean mouths.

LOL @ the whole town will have clean mouths. :lau
I'm with you on the toothpaste. I don't care what kind it is, if it's on sale or I know I can get it for FREE, I get it.

My last "oral hygiene" score was toothbrushes. In the pic below, I think I have 23 toothbrushes and paid less than $5.00. Last week, I got 10 more and all of them were free with the $2.00 off coupons. They only cost $1.97. I since have donated them to the local Abused Woman's Shelter for the ladies and their kids. I kept a few for myself, of course.

Forgive me for skipping from pg. 270 to here. I have a question about pox. Unfortunately I did not vaccinate my girls for it due to ignorance. Last Wednesday night we had a preditor attack. One of my four girls was stolen, and another was left plucked in several places, but all superficial wounds. She has been slow to recover, and in the past few days I have noticed black spots on her comb and wattle, and the area behind her ears has gone whitish. I thought they were wounds until today. One of my healthy girls has now got a black patch on her crown! My vet says a dormant pox virus can take hold after a weakening in a bird, so I'm terrified this is what is going on. How can I bring them through, and can I ever introduce new birds into thier environment?

WAIT...WAIT...Don't get upset yet. I too was ignorant about the pox vaccine. I now have some on order. Before you think the worst, now don't laugh, try the vanilla scented car refresher tags. I got them and they work wonders here! Your girl may indeed be sick, however, I think mine ended up being bug bites! I posted pictures of my girls "spots". The vanilla tags have helped here. I can only tell you about my own experience, as I have way too much to learn!! Everyone here though, was super helpful and offered to help me through with their knowledge if it turned out to be fowl pox.

I am very sorry you have had the loss in your flock, I know how attached we've gotten in just 5 months.
Good luck.
