"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

You mentioned previously that you guys are in the concrete business? Out of Slidell?
Are either of you going to the concrete seminar tomorrow at the Red Cross off hwy 1077? It's a state credited course being held by STHBA and. Concrete industry. Just curious, as my husband is going. I usually do the state credit courses, but I dodged this one!! :ya

The highlights of my day were.....2 sips of coffee then I set it down to finish getting ready to take the kids to school. When I came back it was half gone! Again! My sweet, innocent little Reggie dog has developed a taste for coffee! In the last month he has done this to me at least once a week. I love the little coffee thief anyway! Lol! I had to run back to the school because my high schooler had on the wrong shirt :/ Then I stopped at the animal control office to see if they knew about the German Shepard that has been living in the trees by Super1 in PV. They know, and he is too smart for them. Apparently they are not into building a trap that would work for him or feed him some tranqs so they could get him some medical care. They said that "Nature will have to take its course on this one" Ugh! He sure does not look as health as he did last year. He is so smart! This evening I managed to spill almost half a bag of mealworm treats at the gate of the chicken yard. I nearly was mobbed!!! Hahaha! But the girls had a delicious bedtime snack :) I started their Fermented Feed again yesterday. We ran the water for the bucket (new food grade bucket from Lowes) and let it sit until today to evaporate the chlorine. With the absence of an abundance of the greens I want to be sure they are getting all the nutrients they can. I had stopped doing it because it was hard for me to keep it from getting weird and yucky. Cooler weather is on the way though! Yay! I am soaking some black beans overnight. Some for us and some for the chickens. Hope they like this kind as much as they like those Lentils! Wow, they tore into those!!! I opened one of the Silkie eggs tonight. Uhm, fertile. Hmmmmm. And that little turd of a Silkie roo is getting so stinking noisy! I am worried he is going to really irritate the neighbors. I am beginning to think I should look for a new home for him. But we love him SO!

Most Animal Control employees are just there to collect a paycheck, not in helping the animals, I volunteered at one a few years back to try to help the animals and give back to the community I was in. Did everything from cleaning cages and pens to paperwork and fixing fencing and equipment, and bringing out own lawn equipment to manicure the grounds. I had to quit when they gat a medium size female dog with a litter of 5 pups, and they would not feed her enough to survive on much less nurse the pups. They said it had become too costly to feed her since her milk was not enough for the 5 pups and after having her only 3 days and she had nothing wrong with her a little more food would not fix, decided to put her down. They only gave her a half dose of the amount they should have, brought the pups in and killed them in front of her as she tried to lick them to wake them up and let her watch every on them die, before finally killing her. She was a sweet dog from what I could see, and seemed to be trying to be the best mama she could, with as little as she was getting to eat. Plenty food was being donated and they were feeding the dogs they favored more than they could finish, so it wasn't that they did not have the food. I quit right then and there. I could not take her in at the time, because I was living in a fema trailer at the time with 2 cats and on someone's unfenced property, that had several large dogs themselves. They had already given her the half shot by the time I got there. These Animal control people, in my opinion are cruel and heartless. This shelter I am talking about favored cats and had the cats in a separate air conditioned room with toys for each cat and a rocking chair to hold the cats and love up on them. It was heartbreaking to see them treat this dog this way!

Does anyone know what the part is called that holds the glass to the hatch on the top? I have been trying to look up hatch pins and can't find anything. Mine rattled out a few months ago on a long road trip and the only u pull it that I can find with anything that matches my truck is 4 hours away. Parts stores are no help... I needed a pick up coil for my distributor last year and they assured me that my SUV didn't have one and that I needed to buy a new distributor, well I ordered the pick up coil for a s-10 and 5 min later my truck started. So much for not having that part for my model...

If I'm not mistaken. You are talking bout a hatch lift. It looks like a small shock. They run about 25 to 35 bucks. Just so happens I run a parts store in lake charles. Take a pick of what you need and send me a pm. Be glad to help.

SICK, SICK, SICK PEOPLE!!! How horrifying!!! I wish we had the ASPCA here.

I am looking for some serama hatching eggs. I live on the northshore of the lake. Does anyone know of any breeders in the area?
We have (my daughter has) some seramas for sale. Let me know if you want me to PM you pics. They are 20 weeks old. None of the hens are laying yet, but the roos are all crowing! We have 1 hen and several roos for sale.

The guineas run off the feral cats, stray dogs, raccoons, opossums and those kinda varmints. And after they run them off, they come running and flying from down the road making their loud cackling sound. They are crazy!

I need to borrow some for a while. We have a momma and baby opossum that have been walking our yard. The chickens are locked up tight with 1/4 in hardware cloth, but it's messing with my fall garden!

Good morning La-yer Peeps, looks like we may be in for some rain today and a lot tomorrow and Saturday ! Hope you'll that really need it bad, get some, too. We just put some Hidden Ginger and Elephant ears in the ground, that a dear friend gave me, with a Lilly plant, my daughter gave me, in front of the house and transplanted some shade trees from the woods into the pastures, for more cover and shade for the birds. Been watering, but nothing like rain to get everything going!
