"Louisiana "La-yers" Peeps"

I'm with you on that one you can't make enough money to put up with the smell. Just ask Ron If you read what I posted today you'll get that one.
You've let the bats have your barn and your calling kuntrygirl nuts?? After you do your roof enlist help relocating them. I posted how we got rid of them. It didn't cost anything just time. Pam
The barn is almost 200 years old and 4 acres down on the property. I don't go in it anymore because it doesn't look sturdy enough. They don't come near the house often, but when they do you think there is something wrong with them. It would cost a small fortune to try to seal off that thing.

Hi, I'm new to this, we live in south Shreveport, just outside the city limits. We have 12 babies in a pen in the garage. And just received some eggs today, going into the incubator. I enjoy watching the babies. Playing. I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions.

My first ever broodies first ever hatch! In the time it took to take this picture and load it three more piped. Hoping they all hatch! I was busy all day out of town and this is what I came back to. I heard some strange noises in there and had to pick her up to check it out. The grey one is from my main pic and blue egg, the other one is from my main hen and brown egg. The 4 blue eggs were in the fridge and the last 4 laid before going broody, guess it doesn't matter if they are cold a few days. When I figured out she was broody I just had to have more like her. I guess it is like boiling water, a watched pot never boils.

VERY CUTE!!!! Congrats!!!

X 2 I think you need a dog, too! Seeing how wild Winnie & Mal go when you visit, I know you'd be the love of some lucky pooches' life!

Does anyone have bats? I have really been thinking about getting a bat house so that I can attrack bats to my yard. Don't judge me. :p

Just think about it............ a glass of wine...........fire pit burning.................bat watching............. and gun by side for opossum shooting. That could work right? It doesn't take much to please me at all. :lau

Sounds like an event to me.

I found a few bat houses online.

I could name the bat house, "Who Dat Bats". Get it? Who Dat? :lau

I think I"m going to do it and get a bat house and see how many bats I can attract to the yard.

Well, if the bats tripled at Pam's house, just imagine how many bats you would have at Fertile Acres. Lol. I heard bat guano is great fertilizer, too. Lots and lots of bat poop. Lol

OK, so I never knew how far behind the head could go until she started hatching! She can reach in any direction with lightening fast speed. She was slower and mostly just puffed up and growled before and now that they started hatching she is super aggressive to anything that comes within 5 feet of her. It is cute to watch her make a tunnel in her wings and talk the chicks in. Tomorrow I am going to switch everyone to chick feed. (Broody and babies already have access to chick feed but coop is still on layer.) When can I safely put them in the coop?

You all have been entertaining today.

I had a poopie day in the attitude department. Maybe someone will kick me in the pants and tomorrow will be better. Reset button!

I had to spend some time in the garden this morning. The peanuts were calling me. So I sat on my trusty garden stool and freed the peanuts from the ground. We got like 1/5th of a bushel. Growing them was totally fun and educational for all of us! We loved it!

There have been TONS of mosquitos in the "Egg Hut" for the past 3 mornings. I have shoooo-ed them out. I accidently killed one and it had blood. POOR CHICKIES!!!

I got some vanilla tree thingies at the Dollar General. We will see in the am if there is a difference. I got to spend a few minutes raking out the yard of the big coop. You know, one of these days I wouldn't be surprised of those chooks dug up a body. Every time I go in there I find the weirdest objects. Either the people that lived there were slobs or ........they were slobs. We have found chain(not from a bike), tons of broken glass(like from bottles), bike parts, car parts, other nameless metal parts, toys......and today. Underwear elastic

I don't understand that. I always make sure the kids pick up ANYTHING that isn't compostable organic type stuff.

So, I just want to know why in my almost 40 years nobody ever had me taste a chutney. Was it because I was raised up in the Midwest? Anyway I have all those peppers and onions I sat and chopped yesterday.......and I had bananas (those 29cent ones) And I found a recipe that used all of those ingredients plus more. I only used what we had here and substituted and adjusted the recipe accordingly. Holy Cow! That stuff is Rediculously good!!! I keep thinking pork chops

So chutney that has bananas in it. Who knew?! It also has cider vinegar in it, so it is NOT kid approved. They have vowed "Not going to taste that STUFF your cooking!!!!" Hahaha!
