I LOVE Halloween, I just find it funny. My 3 yr old is a little confused - my 5 yr old is fearless :/ lol

I do hope we get to go this evening but by me, the wind is strong and clouds are thick, its not looking good.

We might get rained out tonight

bit they get to party at home in costume- they told me its better mommy, dentist said no candy :'(
I'm more upset than them after spending all the $ on costumes/glow lights lol

That's about how I feel. They never eat the candy, I just remember it being fun when I was a kid. They like that candy in the orange and black wrappers and never seem to get any so I buy it on sale the day after and give the candy they got to the neighbors.

Good morning La-yers! Welcome to all the newcomers!
It’s so dark here the street lights are on. My boss has gone to the 2nd day of FEMA training so just sitting around watching it rain. Making plans for my new breeding runs for next spring. My flock is very disgruntled with this weather. They put new meaning into the phrase “Mad as a wet hen” lol!

I have a screened coop wall on the north side because rain almost never goes in that side. Well the rain just wet the entire coop before I could close it up and my broody ran with the chicks into the flooded underside of the coop. My broody and rooster are the flightest birds I have and won't normally let me get near them until it is roosting time. I went to collect my birds and bring them in because my entire yard is flooded, the coop is soaking wet, and we are under a tornado warning right now. Would you believe it, they are the only ones I could catch. I yanked the chicks from under her and she roosted on my shoulder and that made him come inside to check on her. They are in the bathtub trying to warm up right now. They are 2 of my 3 favorite birds and I wasn't able to catch the third or any of the others. Here's to hoping they are all ok.

Thanks for the heads up about what weather is coming my way. I went out and closed coop windows and put up an extra sheet of wood to act as a rain shield for the underside of the coop.

She's already a mess after running around like a nut yesterday. She's still jumpy, but I think she's going to be a sweetie.

My watch dog standing on top of the heater to help warm broody and chicks.


Broody and chicks found in a puddle of water. The water was cold and she was trying to warm them as best as she could. I warmed up the room to 75 and the moving air helped them to dry off a little. They are now active and preening themselves.

I put them in the travel trailer for easy clean up and when the weather calms down a little I will open the door and let them decide when it is time to leave. I hope her chicks will be as good of a broody as she is.
